will the passive "increase cast speed" in skill tree increase the attact speed of flame totems?

Yes.

I have been leveling this gem on my blood magic marauder until now but never bothered trying it out. I am very impressed with its performance. Does great damage and distracts enemies wonderfully.

I am using flame totem on my sparks-LMP-blind witch to distract mobs and dish out massive clustered damage. I linked flame totem to life leech support gem and it increases the mana cost and shows up on the skill indicator as l but it doesn't seem to heal me or the totem itself at all. Isn't life leech supposed to give the totem life leech from the damage it dishes out?

Fastest way to get a hold of me is in-game. Second fastest is through PM. I don't check on threads all that often since I prefer to play :)
this totem's damage is attack speed not raw damage. life leech is based/given on the damage delt. this gem has a damage mod of 10%.
With 1% Leech, it needs to deal at least 100 damage per hit after the aforementioned 10% Damage Effectiveness. That probably isn't happening with your current setup :)

I've been playing as a dual flame totem caster with my hc templar and I find that flame totem is completely fine in open area instances: jungle etc but once getting in to closed space: caves, ruins, buildings there are problems

1. if the monster is very very close to the wall of a room, flame totem will not attack it given no obstruction in line of sight.

2. if flame totem spawns very close to the wall or a pillar, it will not attack monster given no obstruction in line of sight.

3. flame totem will not attack monster standing inbetween rooms, i.e where the door is even if there's no obstruction in line of sight.

please fix it. I understand that line of sight is important for attack and have nothing against it but it's frustrating when the totem stands next to the monster and won't attack just because it happens to be in 1 of the 3 situations above. especially when most of PoE instances are closed space and divided up combat area.

I have been having this exact same problem and came to the forums to point this out.

As a dual totem templar there is no other way for me to really deal damage and so this is very hindering.
Great. I just leveled up my templar to ~29 and have my Flame Totem skill ready. I'll make the build anyway. I hope this gets fixed soon.
I read the entire thread but just have to confirm a couple things:

1) Do "spell damage%" passives worth with Flame Totem? I know projectile % works.

2) Someone mentioned in the thread that burning damage doesn't work well with it, too weak, so that means do NOT get any of the "burning damage%" and "burning duration" passives? What about the one near Shadow that's chance to ignite?

Thanks.

i'd find it interesting that a shadow would use totems (boosts are opposite side of grid or at center). as for the passive node in question, it also has fire damage boost, so its still perfectly fine to take it.
So I am going a RF build, and thought flame totem would be a nice amount of extra damage.

So here is my question:

What are the best support gems for flame totem. If item price is no issue, and i want to buy the best, what should i use?

I am currently using iron will with it (does this work) and blood magic (as right now my mana reserve is alot, but will go down now that ive maxed every lfie node i can (lvl 70). 4.3k life :) 300 regen a second.

Anyways I want o maximize my damagae with it so any help would be great!
