You were attacking Eva for its value as a work of art, and I said it's up to the viewer to decide that and you're only representing yourself. You were attacking Eva for its value for existence based on your valuation of Eva as a work of art, and that's when I made the argument that I liked it so it was definitely worth my time. And as you said, there is absolutely no argument you can make against that.

ah, so a work of art is being published, and then all the people who experience it make up their mind individually and based on the sum of those individual verdicts it is established whether something was art or not.
or even better: we dont need to sum up the verdicts, -> everyone gets to decide for themself what is art to them.

that is simply not how it works, that is empirically wrong in every single aspect.

and that is drastically exemplified by eva.

It's not cheap, you're just way overstepping your bounds time and time again by treating your own values as the only thing that can be correct. Who are you to judge whether Eva is worth the time for everyone else?

here is a very simple, yet uncomfortable truth: art is something you need to learn to read and understand. yes, you can just look at some painting and claim "thats beautiful/ thats ugly" - but only when you have knowledge of styles, history, context, techniques and symbolism you can trully go on a quest to understand it.
art is elitarian. art is difficult. art isnt for everyone, sorry.

I'd be completely fine if you respect other people's opinions on the matter. Remember, my original argument when I jumped in here was that the problem with you is the complete rejection of other people's values.

i dont respect opinions, why the f*ck would i have to? i respect arguments.

Your view on art is like a robot. First off, whether everything in art is quantifiable is still up to debate.

peoples perception of art is EASILY quantifiable. read bourdieue.

I think I'm okay with just ending this discussion where it is. I'm sure you are too, so let's just leave it at that.

Warning... Warning... Don’t make me get the bouncers. Everyone’s been warned... As always please refrain from antagonistic remarks when discussing in my threads. Follow the forum rules please...

-Cheers-

Edit: LOL I just watched devilman crybaby that was NOT the anime I watched as a kid... I’m bit traumatized from episode 1...

The devil being the good guy is a pretty common trope, but if it's a lighthearted show I think I know which one you're talking about. I just can't remember the name. The devil is the protagonist and there was an angel that was like his rival/friend, and they end up tag-teaming at the end. The art style was also very 90's and aimed towards kids.

Edit: well never mind, I found which one I was thinking about and it was never turned into an anime. デビデビ~DEVIL&DEVIL~ is the title of the manga that your description reminded me of. As I said, common trope. I think we need a more specific description.

Bastard!! also sorta fits the bill but it's rather...porny.

I feel like we can start naming hundreds of shows if we collectively put our heads together.

You weren't thinking of "The Devil is a part-timer", or were you?

Very funny show, we enjoyed it a lot.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?

Huh, friend and I were admiring that very shot on the blurays. Fucking gorgeous. Whatever our history and differences, I am glad you appreciate Fate/Apocrypha's beauty. When its ugly its terrible but when its good its amazing.

I'm your Achilles heel...lol. (That fight from apocrypha was sexy)...

They have some gorgeous scenes... Sometimes I go wow, and other times I go, "that's just a pencil line."
I am waiting for it to come out for iTunes... I can't find it. I buy all my anime from itune store. It's on Netflix right now which I binged on all the episodes...

Edit: Basically demons fighting against God, God was the antagonist and the demons trying to survive with one of their demons being the main protagonist. One of the episodes god sends down archangel Michael... They're like giant monster Godzilla size. Hope that helps...

The picture you showed us earlier was most definitely devilman... there quite a few series of that franchise, so it might actuallybe one of them.

Other than that I have unfortunately no idea. I do know quite a few with demons as protagonists, but I don't think even one of them has god as the antagonist.
The only one with that kind of setting that I know is Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin soul. But I don't think it's that one.
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
