3.29 Announcement of The Announcement Soon?
|
I'm fortunate enough to be able to request vacation time off work in July. I suspect the announcement of the announcement will be soon. For those keeping tabs on GGG's cadence when it comes to these things, am I wrong in thinking the announcement can be any day now?

Honestly I'm just expecting "because poe2 league we had to delay poe1 league"
I really don't expect them to hit poe1 league 1month after poe2 "biggest poe patch ever" I'll be happy if they prove me wrong though Last edited by imanubcake#2671 on May 22, 2026, 2:31:22 PM

enough with this poe2 nonsense, lets get something straight - poe1 is the best game ever created, poe2 is someones pet project. Invest time where you have player base, i suspect 95% is poe1 and 5% poe2 hence allocate dev resources accordingly. One is core, the other is a nice to have future prospect.

"Yes, you are way off. In a scenario where 3.29 is not delayed (which is very unlikely), the date confirmation would be posted in a ~month. |

"They're doing exactly that. PoE 1 can't hold a candle against PoE 2 as far as raw numbers go. One is a 13 year old game while the other is still in early access and already running laps around its predecessor. Also what you suspect is irrelevant. The numbers are public for the most part and they don't lie. |

It doesn't even have double the players poe 1 has so no running around laps and poe 1 twitch traffic is still very significant.
I suspected two years ago we will never play poe 1 again because of poe 2. But Poe 2 is like lord of the rings amazon version. Yeah, it's somewhat succesfull and better produced, so what? Nobody will say "Omg, this brought me back to the d2 days! I love this game so much!" Poe 1 did something poe 2 can and will never do. All poe 2 has is better overall numbers and graphics. There won't be anything else. The core fanbase will always be leaned towards poe 1. Poe 2 is just a modern version that does some things differently. Needless to say without Poe1 there would not have been the hype around the poe 2 EA release that lead to the high player numbers on release. Far Cry 6 has good graphics but it utterly sucks compared to the older versions. Did it sell better? Probably yes. But regarding the op: There won't be any announcements of announcements any time soon, lol. 29th of May is the poe 2 release and from there it is at least two months. Let's not sugar coat anything here. best case scenario in my estimation is poe 1 league start very late July/early August, but don't count on it. It might be 2-3 weeks later than that. " PoE2 already operates at a level PoE1 had to build up over years to reach, and it’s still only in early access. PoE1 has more than a decade of build up behind it, but even if you compare PoE1 early access to PoE2 early access, the difference is stark and miles ahead. The gap is only likely to grow once PoE2 leaves early access and has a d wider established core game in place. PoE1 had years of iteration to get where it is now, while PoE2 is already starting from a much stronger position, so idk mate. Not saying PoE1 is bad, but even if people don’t like PoE2, PoE1 is no longer the alone standing, unmatched king of the hill in the ARPG genre. Personally, I’d expect the next PoE1 league to land around the end of June, and if a delay happens, which is what it is if it happens, then mid July is still a realistic window. It’s a pretty reasonable timeframe and one that shouldn’t really cause any PoE1 withdrawals. Plenty of time for people to keep busy with other things, maybe try another game or two, or just do literally anything else in real life in the meantime. There’s more than just PoE1 out there, after all. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Pretty early to expect it yet.
I also don't see why people need to take a vacation to play this game, but perhaps that's just me. |

" For plenty of people it's not just an ordinary time to play few hours after work like a typical 9\5 casual This game resembles something special to them, it's more than just a "i'll play a few days and forget it like a match of CounterStrike" It's like a ritual, it's like going on Thanksgiving Turkey dinner to another state to see some of your family members to some extent for some people Including me, PathOfExile's new league cycle has a very special place in my heart It's adventurous, it's amazing, it's fun, it's where you want to be and it's where you feel safe from all what the World has to throw up to you No problems to solve, no worries - it's you and the game you have passion and love I'm very happy for everyone who can get a vacation for a new league, and especially when they have a supportive second half |

" You're not wrong, people can take time off for plenty of things besides gaming. It's not like the league is disappearing overnight, but if someone wants to push early and make a whole event out of launch day, that's their call. The mildly amusing pattern is that it's often the same crowd that gets upset if the league doesn't perfectly land inside their PTO window, and then somehow ends up burned out 2 weeks later while asking for the next league 2 months in. And I don't know, using PTO on something you can already blast during evenings, weekends, and days off feels like an interesting allocation of limited resources. PTO usually shines more with things you realistically can't do during your work week, like taking a nice trip to Japan, wandering through Tokyo, grabbing questionable amounts of convenience store food, seeing places you'll actually remember years later, or doing something that benefits from having uninterrupted time. That being said, if someone is taking time off for a video game, at least wait until there's an actual confirmed timeframe instead of gambling PTO on optimistic timing and hoping the stars align. Missing the opening weekend of a league isn't exactly a once in a lifetime event. Hobby Gamer and Professional Software Engineer & Systems Architect from Tennessee
