What's up with the "I want to feel like a God" complex?

Personally I spend a lot of mental effort amd feel with a lot of stress during my day job. When I play games I want to unwind. I enjoy the process of planning in games, but I actively don't enjoy high skill high action high focus games. They just cause me mild stress rather than being relaxing. I have no problem with people that like a difficult high octane hyper focus kind of game, it's just not for me. ARPGs attracted me because the challenge in the game is frontloaded with build planning and the actual gameplay isn't intense in the moment to moment except in shorter bursts during bosses or similar. Those is why I don't play FPS or any other PvP competitive games at all.

I don't have a problem with there being a genre of ARPG that fit other types of difficulty either. But I do find PoE to be frustrating because it was supposed to be literally just a big patch for PoE1, then separated out to a different game. So PoE1 still hasn't gotten the promised graphics and WASD updatesetc, and actively has suffered development delays because of 2. It also has such an unclear vision that everyone sees what they want to see in the often contradictory feeling direction and statements from GGG. If 0.1 is closer to what they're going for, I'll not continue playing long term and that just kind of sucks.

I also still don't believe PoE1 will continue long term. I hope to be proven wrong, but I suspect given the numbers we know of that when it comes time to retrofit the rigging and graphics update, they'll realize it's a bad financial decision.
