What's up with the "I want to feel like a God" complex?

Genuinely asking, what's up with this? Is your life making you feel that miserable that you need to feel like everything bends over and dies to you in the game without doing anything meaningful for that to happen?

After doing your 9 to 5 you just feel like you want to become the boss or what? What is this even? Why do you want everything handed to you on a platter with next to no effort?

Why do you want to feel invulnerable and overpowered without any merit from actual skill?

But more importantly, why are -YOU- GGG ... giving in to this God complex that should be treated with the help of a shrink instead in each individual's life?

In PoE 1 you literally kill a god.
I am for the skillful gameplay, difficulty and challenges to overcome.

Yet this post is a bad take on gameplay preference resulting from psychological aspects.
You forgot to take into account million variables that could affect such preference growth, and focused on one that is on the outlier side mostly.

Hence it is a bait. Intentional or not.

Is it? How come I don't want this thing then?

I get that games are for a lot of people a form of escape from the tedious and annoying things in life, a place to have fun in. But that's a key part of it.. have FUN. How is it fun in any way, shape or form to play a tedious, non-challenging game that's supposed to be about action? It's not. It just isn't.

In my eyes, people are just letting their real life problems conquer their gaming side as well. Because life is hard and difficult ... they want an easy way to feel on top of the world in games... which is just sad.

Besides, what even is "feel like a God" worth when everyone can do the exact same thing with ease?

that type of mindless BIG NUMBERS escapism is yuuuuuge in the 10c market, iykwim. it probably does have something to do w/ oppressive conditions. it probably is a power fantasy that is growing in popularity globally.
and why would ggg capitulate? because it is the market trend and because it is what fits into the 10c business model (and because that's already what happened w/ poe1).

but i'm just spitballing here. do you like to spitball, op?

really tho the short answer is that it's just speedrunning poe1's trajectory, innit? like, it shouldn't be such a controversy? (not saying i don't hate it, but i came to poe2 w/o any prior history w/ ggg, just what i saw week one of 0.1, and boy have i learned a lot since then.)

Here, I'll give you another one.

Dopamine addiction, the purest cleanest fix wins. But people are getting so numbed to it you have to branch out and find novel ways to keep things feeling fresh. So instead of having cream cheese icing on a hearty carrot cake; the icing is now more sugar than cream, the cake is now slathered in icing and all the healthy spices and carrot are reduced in presence so much it's almost like they're only there in name. Even Brian Weissman tried to make a point of that growing trend in society in an podcast he did w/ streamers darth and ghazzy, but he never got to explain his larger points because they'd constantly cut him off.

So, what I think I'm really getting at is that we're like at the peak of the apex of the vortex. A perfect hellstorm, if you will.

I draw the line at Demi-God, any stronger than that and it's just too easy.
