Removal of map types might be the actual reason of chaos becoming worthless

I don't know, maybe my view is a bit skewed. I played full SSF for the first time this league so I was mentally prepared for slow progression. My build was boneshatter jugg, so nothing crazy experimental but also no super meta blaster. It actually went better than expected. Then again, I was never a heavy trader, nor very fast in general. So in the end it wasn't too different from my usual trade league experience, except that I had to think more about crafting and where to get the materials.
I think it doesn't take a lot of crafting knowledge to make some basic crafts to allow you to progress through the atlas. The Genesis tree also helps a lot with these mid tier progression gear pieces. Come to think of it, some of the rare gear that I finished 40/40 with still came from the tree. Some pieces I crafted on afterwards, some I even kept as they came out of the womb. My expectation is usually that I finish my Atlas with kind of crap gear and start farming for "real" gear afterwards (although, looking at my character, one might argue I'm still nowhere near having real gear in most slots...). If you expect having 20d worth of stuff by that point then yeah, I guess you'll be disappointed in most cases. Go for incremental upgrades rather than zero to hero gear. There's some good stuff you can get for 20-30c that allows you to make that money back in no time, so the next upgrade is always within reach. |

Boneshatter jugg is one of the least gear intensive archetypes out there. you get SICK %more multipliers from rage, warcries and trauma making the weapon far less important than for stuff like Holy Sweep and completely non-comparable to i.e.: my Settlers starter (Divine Retribution). ofc the Boneshatter's ceiling is lower than xxx-stacker but you can reach 'T16 on farm' status on peanuts and tumbleweed.
That Divine Retribution char died (it was HC) and took me LOTS of orbs to make it actually pick up the speed in SC league. league start with build like that - something semi-gear reliant - with current c/div ratio is something i would not do. it just needed too many items with particular stats on strong bases (bane of AR/ES characters) and a shaper shield (life on block, ultimately - life AND es on block) sure, there was no tree back then, but still - this kind of build is pushed away once the economy becomes stratified. you just slog until you luck into your kickstart wealth |

" Pocket lint. You forgot the pocket lint. But yeah, that's part of the reason why I picked it for my SSF run. I get where you're coming from. Having to play the same old safe league starts over and over gets old after a while. And if you want to push the boat out with something more interesting you may be in for a long slog. But I'm still not convinced that chaos/div ratio is something GGG should actively try to design around. Afaik they have always let the market do its thing so far. Maybe a new trade meta with some other "bedrock currency" will come out of this. Also don't forget that they have buffed currency drops in general by 100% and many people (myself included) have found div in campaign. I have dropped 60 raw div this league which is a lot by my standards. No div altar, no big 20 stack from the tree, just natural drops and a few lucky delve chests. |
