Darkness band-aid - desperate call to make it to 0.5

Oi, me again.

I reflected on my previous idea and how Darkness works and I think I figured out why it is so drawback-packed and why its scaling is limited by design.
Nevertheless, to play with full Darkness potential, you still need:
- 3 Asc Notables investment (6 points guys);
- External source of Chaos Resi to fulfill the scaling requirement (which is also killing the option of using CI);
- Sacrifice Spirit entirely.

Here is my 200 IQ band-aid idea to fix Darkness just before 0.5!

Merge two Notables: [Deepening Shadows] with [Chayula's Gift] into one.
Keep it in the Darkness branch. Add new 1 Notable branch (or not).

Darkness is actualy extremely strong.

I think they could allow it to stack up to 3.5k/4k max assuming you have invest the 6 ascendancy points for it and keep the spirit penalty as it is.

If they want to keep it at around 2kish than change the penalty to like, "half spirit" or "35% less EV/ES" similar to other ascendancy penalties.

Thematically, I love Darkness. As a skill it is pretty strong. I like your idea. I would also like it to be changed so that it was darkness scales with un-capped chaos resistance. I think this could help it get to the level it needs as a complete replacement for energy shield.
