Mobs should be programmed to fit their visual models
|
There is a disconnect between many of the mobs physical models and what their stats are programmed to be.
For example if a mobs model is massive, it should have the HP and weight to fit their visual representation. I think this would improve the readability and expectations of what to expect in gameplay from the mob models. It could also add extra depth when interacting with many different mobs at once. if the disparity was made greater between a normal mob that was small and medium. Many large or massive mobs should be limited to being magic or rare, but never normal (unless their HP was borderline magic). Last bumped on Mar 24, 2026, 10:46:19 AM

Mobs should also have less HP on sunday morning...Most of them have a hangover after clubbing all night long.
And most of them should do more damage on mondays...cause everyone hate mondays after a tremendous weekend. |

Monsters that are physically bigger should take significantly longer to kill. But they should get rid of the 100% damage block mechanic for mobs. Take the giant lizards with shields from Act 1 -- as soon as you get around their shield they die almost as quickly as any other mob (maybe twice the HP of a corrupted wolf). It's just bad design, it's not the shield that makes the giant lizard tanky, it's the "giant" part. Make block stop like 80% of the damage, give them an interesting skill or two, and buff their HP 5x if not more. All this can only be done after they also reduce monster density at least 5x, otherwise the encounters are too tedious. So unless they decide to reverse direction away from PoE1-style combat, we will never have gameplay that varies depending on enemy mob type. The only such example that does occur in the game as it currently is are on-death effects which absolutely everyone hates but GGG loves because degen pools have no HP bar to be one-shot by the player. " Thanks for the smoothbrain, I appreciate it to be called like that from a true legend, like you. Do you really think, players want that, what you wrote? 5 times less density in an ARPG, but more bulletspongy mobs, which drop nothing? I wouldn't want that here. Btw, the mobs that are significantly bigger in this game are bosses and they have more HP. White mobs shouldn't be pure bullet sponges in my opinion. It isn't more fun, it's just tedious. And believe me, I don't like the zoom zoom from PoE1 at all. Another fun part is, that the OP wants more readabilty of what to expect in the game, while in another thread, he/she doesn't want to read the mechanics of the expedition encounter at all...no, he/she wants the immunity to xyz damage typres mechanic to be patched out. And that wasn't the only weird feedback I've read from him/her, so I can't take that seriously anymore. Well, we should agree, to disagree here...without giving us names Edit: It wasn't me, who reported your post...I guess a GGG employee just didn't like, what he has read. the 100% immune to ____ damage on expedition is a bad design choice that doesn’t improve the gameplay in any way whatsoever during any condition or circumstance.
Sadly Its one of the few things to make expedition slightly more challenging, but that’s a bad thing. There is always a connoisseur for the worst aspects of the game on the forums. Just read the post objectively and don’t be a drama queen. Anyways, reducing pack size is not the best idea but changes to HP could make things like Ritual really difficult. Then again most of the mobs in Ritual are small. The mobs that stands out the most- -Normal large elite abyss mobs, normally rare on the surface, in the abyss are made of Jello. -The giant maggot with a human head thing, very nasty massive creature that wiggles and crawls towards you, It’s giant, I don’t know its name. The normal ones die just as fast as a normal skeleton even though they are 100x the size. -The yellow plated jungle creature that rolls towards you, it looks pretty armored and could use some extra HP for Normals. The entire list of mobs could be looked at- based on scale and appearance to judge if a mob should be more durable. The problem mostly lies with large and massive Normal mobs being too fragile. Almost as if they shouldn’t spawn as anything beneath magic. Their Normal HP could be increased to be borderline Magic. Last edited by TwitchGLHFsport#2155 on Mar 22, 2026, 1:33:50 PM

Nobody concurred your post in that "immune" thread, so who is the drama queen? I have read almost all your posts and most of them were like: "Oh, this was unexpected in the game, this has made my life a bit harder, when I have encountered it the first time...please change it, I don't want to change my attitude."
Blizzard has listened too much to all complaints (sorry...feedback) from casual gamers and it saddens me, what D4 has become now. You don't give real constuctive feedback, you want the game to be programmed around your own desires. And the same thing to you: you can criticize my posts but stop giving names to people, who don't share your opinion. Edit: And I don't have anything against you personally, I don't know you and I bet we would have tremendous discussions when we would sit together and drink a beer or a glass wine together. But I just disagree with your feedback I have read here. Take it like a man/woman. Last edited by Supercow_X#7071 on Mar 22, 2026, 1:43:31 PM

" That’s not true at all. And StarCraft is far from a casual game. It was literally the leading competitive Esports game of our generation. Treated like a sport in Korea. It is still one of the best games for hardcore 1v1 competitive gaming. Regardless of how “hardcore” you think this game is, it is still a casual game in my book. D4 is an abomination and I want nothing to do with it. I only bought D2 for research purposes. D4 with its hit numbers thrown all over the screen, looks like trash. " I know SC, I have played it a lot. I guess we are even the same generation, that's why I don't understand, why you want every little obstacle that this game throws to you to be changed...That fits more to the nowadays kids. Listen, I don't want to have a quarrel with you. As Ive edited above: I don't have anything against you personally, I don't know you and I bet we would have tremendous discussions when we would sit together and drink a beer or a glass wine together. But I just disagree with your feedback I have read here. You are a SC veteran, I am an ARPG veteran, who plays HC since D2 released. How would you react, when I was a real casual player would like to have changed your beloved SC in every way, so that I am comfortable with it? Let's respect each others opinion but we don't have to have the same opinion, right? Edit: And I even wave the white flag and do apologize, if I have hurt your feelings. Wasn't my intention. And I will draw back/edit my posts if it is needed. Last edited by Supercow_X#7071 on Mar 22, 2026, 1:53:55 PM

When I suggest removing something, I'm not throwing out the option for something better to replace it. And when I'm critiquing something, I'm also ignoring other things that I know are also an issue and should be changed.
I wouldn't care, and look at the post someone made about lightning warp being difficult to use. I mentioned not making it easier because it allows more skill expression and its not a bad skill at all. Even if clicking on the cull is difficult, that is one separation between a good or bad player, and using it takes practice. You can say whatever you want, I'm not going to hold it against you, I'll just give honest feedback and not be an *** about it. |
