Third Party Software
|
Yesterday my account was banned due to third-party software, but I did not use any macros, automation, or trade bots. I only used Awakened PoE Trade (latest version), and Discord was open.
In Turkey, Discord is restricted at times, so I had to use a DNS/VPN-like tool only to access Discord. I did not use it for the game itself. I honestly do not know what caused this ban. Without understanding the exact reason, I’m afraid that even if I create a new account, it could be banned again. I want to fix whatever caused this. I have been playing since 2016 and never missed a league. I really love this game, so this situation is very upsetting for me. I believe it would be more fair if players were given a warning (for example, to close a specific program) instead of receiving a permanent ban without explanation. At least if I understood what I was banned for, I wouldn’t repeat this mistake again I hope my message will be taken seriously. Thank you for your time. ![]() Last bumped on Mar 21, 2026, 2:56:37 PM

Hi there,
In order to submit a ban appeal, you will need to log into your account on the Path of Exile website and go to your account profile. You will have an option to appeal your ban in the sidebar on the right side of this page. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any further help over the forums regarding this. If you have further questions, please contact us at support@grindinggear.com | |

I have used my right to appeal and submitted it, but I know it will not receive a positive response because the goal is not fairness, justice, or rights—it’s to sell extra stash tabs
Please forward this to the highest authority and have the company abandon this policy. Players who spend long hours in the game and are banned will inevitably return, creating new accounts to buy stash tabs. This policy will cause significant long-term damage to the company. I understand you are treating this as a business, but please stop banning certain accounts just to sell stash tabs as a joke. At the very least, issue a warning if there is a prohibited action. |

" Sounds like a great way for the developers of e.g. bots to check whether the latest version of their application is being detected by GGG. Surely you can't actually expect GGG to do this..? GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

Unfortunately, this may be one of the companies that values players the least, and it’s hurting its own reputation. If I’ve done anything against the rules, it wasn’t intentional.
According to the written rules (Section 7), Awakened PoE Trade can be a reason for a ban. However, many streamers and the vast majority of players use it, while only a small portion of players seem to get banned in waves. It would be better if such tools were integrated into the game so everyone could use them safely. If the ban was due to this, the reason should be clearly stated (e.g., third-party trade automation) instead of just “Section 7 violation.” Also, instead of a permanent ban, a warning or a short suspension (like 3 days) with an agreement notice would be much fairer. |

I am currently experiencing the same issue as others. Whenever I encounter a problem, I reach out to support, but every response I receive states that no further assistance can be provided.
If that is the case, then I honestly do not understand the purpose of contacting support at all. I truly love this game, but being wrongly accused of using third-party software and losing access to my account has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Situations like this make players feel helpless. I sincerely ask that the company pay more attention to these cases and provide genuine support, rather than relying on automated or repetitive responses. |

" That's a lot of tinfoil, banning people dose not make them money, it's has the opposite effect. They also have NO issue unbanning people if they feel it was in error BUT they have had 14 years to hone their detection methods, and it is not often that they are mistaken. As for their policy hurting their long term business, well it hasn't yet and that isn't likely to change. Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

" If you think about it this way, it actually makes the company money. Consider a player base of 100,000 people. If they do this to 10,000 players and even 5,000 of them come back, those players will have to buy stash tabs again because it’s almost impossible to play the game properly without them. If each spends an average of $50, that’s 5,000 × $50 = $250,000. For a system that repeats every 4 months, that’s very profitable—essentially generating revenue without producing anything new. When you look at it like this, is it still just a theory? |

" Yes. Because the "I was banned unfairly for third-party software" people are always the people who have used third-party software X or Y (Exhibit A: your first post in this thread). GGG has previously posted confirming that they banned people for the use of third-party software because they spammed the API too aggressively and it was causing service disruption. They make the official trade website available so that somebody can open a new browser tab, click on the bookmark, configure a few filters and find a list of results. If you use some unofficial third-party software that almost automates interacting with GGG's trade API and try to price-check dozens or even hundreds of items in a ~2 minute period then you're using a third-party application to send way more requests than anyone who isn't using that application - and if you get a ban then it is what it is. You are responsible for the actions of your account, regardless of whether you do everything manually or use a program to assist you. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

" So we are actually being subjected to a huge injustice. Streamers are using this system too, yet none of them are getting banned. They should either create an official tool themselves or ensure that no one uses it at all. Getting banned randomly like a lottery is really ridiculous. Recently, I was checking map prices for trading, so if that’s the reason, it doesn’t make sense—because streamers are using the same system. Treating players differently like this is not something you would expect from a quality company. I hope the management changes soon and these issues are completely resolved. Selling through stash tabs clearly works in their favor. With my previous account, they were able to generate around $1 million in revenue without producing anything new. |
