Crossbows needs "Bolt Quiver" too, it just make sense.

like where do we pull out all them bolts if not from a bag or something ?

since crossbow already can roll +7 projectile skill, crossbow quivers should not do that. instead it rolls unique things such as "reload speed" , "chance to reload # number of bolts" , "increases bolt damage", "increases elemental bolt damage", "elemental bolt have a chance explode based on its elemental type ( fire-explode, cold-ice fragments, lightning-zaps, physical-normal forks". "reduced movement speed penalty when firing/reload grenade"

and grenade bag, "grenade have a chance to activate 2nd time" , "grenades have a chance to fire additional projectile ", "increases area of effect for grenade attacks" , "increases damage of grenade skills" ,"increases elemental damage of grenade skils", "grenades skill have increased cooldown recoveyr" etc etc.

and maybe lineage support gems "Ratha's persistence", reduces movement speed penalty when firing, and allows you to fire while sprinting, during this time, your attack speed increases, but your stun threshold reduced, evasion increases, armor and energy shield reduced.

its fun, maybe it not have to be exactly like what i wrote but the main idea remains.

I haven't played mercenary into endgame yet, It seems pretty good though. Some people opt to use a Primary skill.

Do you think it's underpowered and should warrant something like this?

I can see how crossbow being 2 handed is restricting, but also if it is 1 handed, that is a major power spike for a scepter, people will find a way to exploit it.

grenade bag is a cool idea, if they have no grenade skills in the skill tree, but the grenade bag has a variety of different grenade skills. But being able to replace the grenade bag with a scepter would be pretty busted.

That's true and I see there are a lot of people that hit lvl 100 with Ranger, I edited that last post.

yea can just put a restriction like bow and quiver, when you equip a bow you can only equip quiver on your offhand. same goes for bolt quivers.

i mean they have this mechanic back 2years ago when mercenary first launched. but i wasnt sure why they removed it. such a shame, it was acool concept.

That's a really good question, is there any explanation?
Maybe they combined it with something else? I have no idea

*just a train of thought* I'm starting to think that there are some drawbacks to support gems not scaling by level as they did in POE1. I don't even remember if that has anything to do with reload speed.

Where does reload speed come from now? attack speed? skill speed?
It could make sense that it comes from skill speed though, that's kind of realistic.

+1. Its important for Crossbow that investing in a lot of things.
Bolt sack or make grenades to be of-hand gear. There are two good options that doesn't ruining balance if implemented with the appropriate bonus modifiers. If not then give reload to Bow.

The increased attack speed scaling is insane in bows considering the no reload mechanism and the firing with additional arrow can make the difference clearly noticeable. So don't wonder why Ranger hit top levels fast.

+1 to separating bombs from weapon. Most Crossbow skills have almost the same implementation mechanism and are very boring. Replace them with some new smart bomb trhouughs that can be used as an of-hand gear.
Conceptually you'd think this would have been easy to nail. Crossbow has a long delay as you load 5 or however many bolts, then you can very quickly unleash several heavy hitting shots. Bows are maybe slightly faster in terms of shots per second but do less damage per hit and have a hitch and animation of drawing from the quiver.

Current speed of the endgame and funneling of everyone to fast one shot builds doesn't lend itself to this I guess.
