OK my friends, I have figured this out! Many of us who play standard, have not completed the Keeper pinnacle bosses. In order to open the Nightmare maps, YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL OF THE PINNACLE BOSSES FIRST! While you were able to run T17 maps without doing all the pinnacle bosses, that is no longer the case. You must do Sirus, Shaper, etc. as well as all the Keeper pinnacle bosses. Then, and only then will you have access to all of the Nightmare corners. I was just able to run Abomination using a newly dropped Nightmare map. I have to say the trash before the boss was much easier at level 83. The real credit for figuring this out goes to mavvernus#4328. He was the person who actually showed a Nightmare map in the Atlas.

" Hi CountWiggi, it is incredibly confusing, I agree. Some where on your Atlas, something still needs to be done and it is extremely difficult to figure out what that typically is. While I was able to run Abomination, it is the only Nightmare map I have been able to open so far. I am still trying to figure out what other content it wants me to do. I did need both Keeper pinnacle bosses as I never played Keeper league. I also had not done Sirus which I had to go back and do. I am not certain what combination of things opened the Abomination map, which is in the bottom right most corner just below "Eye of the Storm" and connected to "Absence of Mercy and Empathy". The odd part is I had both of those pinnacle bosses done but it was not until I ran a memory strand set of maps including killing the final boss in a Courtyard map, did both Keeper bosses, and did Sirus, that it opened the Abomination slot. Hopefully GGG will make this clearer at some point as I actually suspect it is working as designed...which is incredibly confusing. " That's the "fun" thing about bugs like this: you can get into situations that logically shouldn't be possible...and yet, they exist. While it's faint in your screenshot, it does look like it shows Maze of the Minotaur having a blue flash on top of the "Witnessed by Maven" indicator. That blue flash, which only shows when opening the Atlas by accessing the map device, indicates: This map is accessible This map has not yet been completed This situation, with the blue flash on top of the "Witnessed by Maven" indicator, is only possible because the Atlas was bugged--the mechanisms causing the bug should be fixed, but existing setups are not retroactively fixed.  Nothing in tooltip that would indicate that the map is cleared here. But there is for the Synthesis maps you can see to the right. They all look complete, right?   Despite both looking like they're complete, only Rewritten Distance Memory was cleared after Hotfix 12, so that's the only map of the four that's complete--as indicated by the bonus objective.  The blue flashing glow is how you can determine which maps haven't yet been tracked as completed when you have Maven witness progress from previous leagues, or from this league prior to Hotfix 12. " It should be "the content that leads to the area in the Atlas". The screenshots I showed have the blue glow, showing that the area should be accessible. Abomination? Sirus and Maven are connected to it--you can open it because you can clear Sirus, I can open it because I cleared Maven.

  Despite the ornate socket-like graphics making it look like encounters were complete at the start of the league, actually completing them make it clear that they were not treated as completed--as you can see in this image, of the bottom left part of the Atlas after killing only the Exarch:  The left side is completed, granting access to Ziggurat. The right side is incomplete, and does not act as a path to Ziggurat--but, only one side has to be completed to access it.  So, to access all 5 Nightmare maps, you have to: Bottom Left: Beat Exarch OR Eater Bottom Right: Beat Sirus OR Maven Top Left: Beat all 3 Incarnations Top Right: Beat Cortex OR (Elder AND Shaper) And no progress from before Hotfix 12 is tracked for this. |
