Warrior Skill Speed option
|
Warrior skill animations are too slow.
There aren't enough skill speed passives. What if for Warrior, skill speed scaled with Strength, Gem Quality, Support Gems, something? I use Giant Maul and the Acceleration shrine makes it feel okay. If I ever bought a better weapon for 1,000,000 divine orbs, I would still be missing my acceleration shrine. Giant Maul has extremely high value for a weapon with shrines, The Acceleration shrine buff gives move speed, attack speed, skill speed, everything. If you did make a change to skill speed, this unique item passive should change, as much as I love it. Maybe a passive that scaled skill speed with strength, if it was exclusive to the Warrior class in its early foundation skill tree, that would be good. There are quite a few options to improve skill speed in game but most are not as accessible as pathing to "blood rush" or the attack speed cluster near the warrior starting area.
Most of them involve a bit of luck/rng or wealth to trade from someone else through the way of attack speed on gloves, runes, anoints, jewels, etc. Sometimes it is also worth using those support gems like "hit and run" on skills such as Sunder when it's just one in the line-up of situational mace skills that you're using. It also seems to be worth allocating points in to reduced effect of slows. I'm currently pushing a warrior through the endgame and I am finding the slowness of mace skills to be made more bearable through weapon swapping. I keep a 1h+shield setup for leap slam, boneshatter, mace strike/raise shield and warcry and then on a fat and slow 2-hander weapon swap I use sunder, rolling slam and forge maul. Hit and run for the 40% increased action speed on sunder makes it feel pretty quick and the drawback of needing to travel 10m to use it every time feels non-existent. Who am I to say anything, I don't respect my time either.

So the skill speed of maces do suck. However, I have a different perspective: lean in to it. Most of warrior animations can be canceled early. You can control the direction of rolling slam. The default attack is actually really strong. Use the default attack to poke. Reposition often. Pay attention for openings.
Basically the difficulty of warrior is execution. Try to think of speed as part of the challenge. It would be nice if they speed it up a little bit though. Last edited by darrenrob82#3531 on Mar 2, 2026, 9:23:25 AM

" +1 to everything you posted. Getting an acceleration shrine when playing other classes feels like I've gotten a power-boost into "ludicrous" speed-mode and I become a turbo-charged demi-god whereas on warrior it's more like "hey this feels pretty good" as I get a sunder off before being hit and everything else feels way more responsive. Leaning into this aspect is definitely the way to go, taking any increased attack/skill speed where you can - but it feels arduously difficult to obtain without broken-temple levels of wealth and in ssf you're likely going to have to be happy with your 8% increased attack speed on your gloves and call it a day unless you get lucky. I don't think it needs acceleration shrine levels speed boost overall but I think the sweet spot for accessibility to increased attack/skill speed lies a little bit higher than where it currently is. Who am I to say anything, I don't respect my time either. Last edited by karsey#2995 on Mar 2, 2026, 11:40:26 AM

" Lmao, EXACTLY! Think about the value in that, Instead of spending a passive point on 3% skill speed, With a Giant Maul, The Acceleration shrine gives a whopping 60% skill speed. With 2 shrines active at a time its like filling 8 passive skill tree nodes for free. Do you guys know if Dual Wielding Giant Maul can give me 4 shrine buffs active at once? That would be insane. I can already have 3 if I take one from the map shrine on top of my passive shrines. That's okay, but god forbid they give a slow but gradual scaling system with skill speed and strength, GGG always knows best. Last edited by TwitchGLHFsport#2155 on Mar 2, 2026, 3:20:27 PM

I think the biggest threat to Warrior are those time-warp Auras. The slowing bubble. I don't think my Anti slow charms even activate when making contact with them.

" Use Time of Need. This spirit skill clears curses. Very helpful. |

" Oh yeah, I'm using that right now, it's really good. That and herald of Ash. Time of Need is especially good vs those pesky waystone mods. |

If you want some more speed you gotta supplement something for it.
My swap banners give me what I need for the most part if I actually want speed. But its not terribly slow for the most part. Hit hard but its slow so I think its pretty fair. If you want to go really fast then just use a 1h. 2h is overdamage anyways, just a bit more fun. Mash the clean

" Hmm i haven't used a 1 handed enough, only at the start of this playthrough. are you saying the skill speed is faster 1 handed vs 2 handed? What about with dual wielding one handed weapons? I don't know If I can sacrifice damage, I really like 2 handed so much. I'll start another character after this and try 1 handed. Last edited by TwitchGLHFsport#2155 on Mar 2, 2026, 9:04:09 PM
