Worst boss design award - Arbiter of Bitterness
|
Hi guys, this is my first season in PoE2, I'm playing Poe1 for years and so the game itself is not that difficult for me to adapt.
I'm farming T15 (second wind) at ease (like, really smooth, with Fubgun's poison pathfinder). My target is not to beat Arbiter since so many people are complaining about it already. But it gate-block the ability to craft tablets. And I want to farm other content effectively. After 10 careful replays with Arbiter for the unlimited first attempt (I died all 10 times), I QUIT. The boss is so horrible that I had to log the f*ck out of the arena in order to return to farming maps. What a horrible boss, gate-keeping the high rewarding contents. What a shitty move from GGG. What a shame! I'm reading other people's strategy. Obviously, meaningful combat = 10M DPS or you'll lose. [Removed by Support] How are you expect people enjoying the endgame when you block it that way? Last edited by Vinky_GGG#0000 on Jan 13, 2026, 7:02:33 PM Last bumped on Jan 13, 2026, 4:15:23 AM

" If you look at this forum in earlier leagues compared to this league, it's obvious why GGG locked the tablets behind the Arbiter. In previous leagues, there were dozens of threads about how unfair dying was, because players ran content that was too difficult for their build. Now people are starting threads about problems with the economy. That seems much healthier to me. GGG has made major changes to trade, and it stands to reason that it's going to take work to get it right, so feedback about the economy is important. 0.4 SSF: Gemling Minions: https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/DistributedAutomaton-5739/character/CrystalController

It's cool GGG gatekeeps something behind Arbiter. At least I have motivation to kill him lol.

Hei.
There is only 1 bad ability he uses: orb + ray (at once). To make it through you need to stand outside the orb circle and wait till he almost finishes his ray attack. But 1 sec before this happens, you need to dodgeroll under his ray right into the orb, because ray doesn't hit you while you dodgerolling. His ray attack must finish before you stand up after dodgerolling. After that orb explodes and then you immediately run outside because Arbiter will slam the area where you stand. So the sequence is: Wait outside - Dodgeroll in - Wait (Orb explodes) - Run out Everything else is easy. |

Arbiter is a poorly designed fight. Not sure why they've gone with bosses being one-shot machines, but it is boring *and* frustrating. And Arbiter specifically was designed with the most one-shots. Reducing the amount of time you have to react and giving poor visuals/offscreens doesn't make the fight challenging, it makes it a huge nuisance.
I did Arbiter in 0.1 and decided what's the point? I could always just trade if he ever dropped loot I was interested in. Then this league they added the juicing gatekeeping. My hope is that 0.5 upends the entire endgame and we get something entertaining to play post-campaign. I'm sure they'll keep this fight, but hopefully it goes back to being irrelevant. |

Its a frustrating fight to learn, without being able to practice with the unlimited attempts id probably never have bothered.
Still not sure how a deadly looking fireball slowly descending is meant to telegraph the 'safe spot' of an explosion attack. As for gatekeeping higher tier content, Isnt that part of endgame progression? "Beidat honored the pact, though Beardat wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

It's a very boring fight... I just dont like mmo-type bosses in ARPGs.

You are the problem, not the boss.
