Hopefully GGG buffs GL in Patch 0.5.

Anything different from the current Ascendancy shape will be more ergonomic and efficient. A lot of people quited due the lack of protective node provision.

I think this buff would really help the identity of the GL:

Adaptive Capability: Expanding it so your highest attribute satisfies Item Requirements for armor and weapons, not just gems.

GL Ascendancy sucks in all meanings. Bonuses are a joke that made me abandon character for Smith if Kitava class. Need rework from the start. This shape is very limited.

Gemling has been bad since .2 when they removed it's stat stacking capabilities and gave it to huntress. It's hard to be a good ascendancy when it use to be the only one who could use 2 supports then they gave it to everyone and ruined the class bc they had a lack of support gems in the game. I wouldn't get your hopes up on them fixing this its been almost a year and no good changes has come for gemling

Indeed everything good and special was made common to all classes and his position took worthless node bonuses that only apply for decoration and not for esseential use. Plus the punishments from small nodes stay from 0.1.0 as if Merc Ascendancy provides insane buffs and need to balance the power. Totally crappy shape with limited paths is another pain in the ass. Numbers don't lie if you don't believe players that spend ton of hours and effort for this shit just to realise other Ascendancies are way way better options.

Agreed, GGG needs to give GL some special node bonuses to make the ascendamcy worth playing.
