One portal deaths kill my will to play the game
|
Every time I use a 6-mod map with a single portal and die to some random BS, I just want to close the game. Every time it happens I'm a little less motivated to play. I understand that 0.5 is supposed to include a major rework of endgame. Please reconsider this limited portal mechanic.

" yea because not only do you lose the map itself and 1 on the tablets you put in but you also lose 10% experience (unless omen is in inventory) on top of having to rerun the map again without any tablets to progress it forward. Bring back maps like poe 1 get rid of this huge map of pointless maps that people hate running. I see a vaal temple i dont even do it and if it bricks my maps eventually leaving only them left i guess i wont map no more. Cannot stand that fire in center that constantly kills you for no reason while you have to run down 14 different dead ends before you find the door to the 2nd level with another 20 dead ends. people want to enter the maps they enjoy running and forget the rest you cant do that with this tree map baddie design. |

Do maps with 4 mods.

" Except that to progress the atlas passive it requires you to do 6 mod maps. Having a Third Tablet requires 6 mod maps, the tablets offer far too much to ignore them The game is not polished enough and is far too rippy for the current 1 portal system, not to meantion bugs and constant crashing. Currently it's far too easy to die from a random unseen off screen meteor or some other rubbish, and of course this just increases significantly further with more map mods. The next argument is going to be "Make a better build" I can run a T15 6 mod map and not even bat an eye and the next one I run, encounter 1 rare and instantly die, hell even the wrong type of white mobs with the wrong modifiers can wipe out a toon. I can kill all the T3 bosses in under 10 seconds and still randomly die in a 6 mod T15 map. The next one will be "don't run modifiers you cannot handle" Sure thats fine, but then you are limiting your character options even more. The other issue here is that a lot of the modifiers are always dangerous, regardless of your build. There are only a handful of good build options that can truly run 6 mod maps properly with almost no risk. These also usually require a good amount of gear investment due to their popularity. This then brings the question as to how can you achieve this point without the superior drop rates of the T15 6 map mods. The other concept with these top tier builds is that the reason they work is that they achieve this through raw power, with massive amounts of damage that covers entire screens worth of monsters, completly bypassing any game mechanics in place. For a game franchise that is meant to be about creative freedom they sure like to shit on that with terrible unintuitive modifiers and having their gear progression so wack that the best way to win is to not engage with the game at all. I have the same. The worst thing is that most deaths are not even earned.
Just look at the first two weeks of league and this bug with being stuck or not being able to use any action. I am all in for punishing players for bad actions but at first patch the game. On Probation Any%

When you can blow away 6 mod maps but some random BS in the middle of the chaotic visual mess that is endgame kills you, playing 4-mod maps is not the answer. There are too many instances of this happening to punish players for the problems the game has. I think that is what makes people frustrated the most. Like if you knew what killed you then you would know what the weakness in your build was and you could plug that hole or avoid the thing in the future that kills you outright.

Do maps with less mods until you can handle full mods. The game rewards you for bigger risks and more challenging maps.
If you can't handle 6 mods do 3 or 4, I have 840hrs and I still do this. If I am dying a bunch I just do less mods. |

" The BS deaths is a valid complaint. The visual clutter is absolutely nuts. But removing zero death map doesn't fix that. |

" You really don't get it, do you? It is still better to die in full juiced 6-mod map, than play with 4-mod 2 tablets. It only adds frustration, nothing more to the game. On Probation Any% Last edited by Dxt44#4050 on Dec 31, 2025, 12:39:23 PM

" Wth is this flawed logic? you literally die less in maps with less mods. 6 mods are mostly always death traps. Only do 6 mods maps if you have to (like quests, etc), in the end you'll get more out of maps with less mods until you can handle 6 mods, it's as simple as that. Tech guy
