POE2 is the only ARPG game that has defenses just for decoration!

Yea it is the sad truth...
Whether you have 70% or 90% defense, it doesn't matter. Bosses can kill you with one hit just as easily. It doesn't worth it to invest in a defensive build. That's why Zoomers are happy for their demands, because it is easy for them to substantiate their opinions. " Kill the enemy quickly or you will be killed quickly." It's the damn truth. I'm 62 years old and I haven't encountered such terrible defensive mechanic design in an ARPG since the 1980s. To GGG's development team: Make defences worth investing. Let people play with zooming if they like but also allow players to invest on perfect defensive builds. Make it hard to archive 100% defencive percentage but give the option of immunity to all defensive categories. Change the defensive design parameters and set the blocking percentage to be accordingly of hits percentage damage amount. This way, every 1% will count in the hunt for more upgrades. For example, 80% physical defense should block 80% of the damage from the physical hit. Don't make our life harder. Afterall it's a game not Einstein's genius discovery and most of all stop copying from Poe1. It's seems like lazy work. It doesn't surprise me that Poe2 is getting so many bad reviews on Steam. You ruined the vision and let injustice lead to a toxic community. Last bumped on Dec 13, 2025, 5:37:32 AM

When I see so many beautiful microtransaction costumes, my mind goes to increasingly well constructive defenses. Playing in game reveals the opposite view. I'm 48 years old and I can admit that Poe2's defense mechanism is crap in every way. Yesterday I had a conversation with a guy about his defensive development which ranges from 0-20%. He convinced me that his defensive strength is reflected in his powerful shots.
Well done GGG, you failed the basics of the game. Please make Defense Great Again and let the new content wait a bit! +1 to post |

What you're asking for would not be healthy for the game.
Once invulnerable levels of defence are made available, they're never limited to characters who wish to go slowly. Players would just create effectively immortal builds with tens of millions of dps, which would in turn lead to all the mobs/bosses getting buffed in their damage output. It'd be the repeat of poe1 in that regard, where multiple defence layers are a requirement in order to avoid 1shots, not a choice hence not changing anything apart from increasing the entry ceiling for newbies even furhter. |

" The reason why POE2 got an extreme wave of negative feedback was on the contrary because GGG tried to go more with their vision on the 0.2 iteration. The negative feedback when they tried to implement what you call "The Vision" was overwhelming. Then they redeemed themselves with 0.3 and the feedback INSTANTLY got better on steam. Go ahead and go full vision. Make the game slow and hyper tactical and let's see what happens with the feedback, I really want people to find out. Or they could do a super simple in game poll, which would remove any doubt. As for defences, I agree, they need to be buffed and not nerfed. The amount of 1 shots is not good for the game. |

" Ok, but that's already how the game is, except defense doesn't matter for the one shots either, since you'll just die from a boss slam, or a random invisible on death effect anyways. What's the point of having defenses if you just die all the same? |

I agree with one-shots being removed. Besides it being frustrating to the player when it happens(esp if visual clutter is the cause...) it is just lazy design. No bosses are fun to fight when they are all exactly the same - dodge the one-shots and try to DPS it down before you make a mistake.
Especially since they force the entire endgame to be fighting bosses every map. |

" No, it is not how the game is. Right now the problem many inexperienced players have is scaling their hp pools, not defences. It is pretty straight forward to get high armour/evasion, or cap resistances, but really hard to scale life at the same time. More options need to be added for that, or ES has to be nerfed to the ground and the overall damage intake readjusted. As far as boss slams go, it is my understanding that some one shots are there by design, especially in pinnacle encounters. If those fights posed no risk whatsoever, then they might as well not exist, similar to every single d4 boss for example - just spawn the loot pinata in the room at that point. " They will if balance between defence and offence is well organised. What I'm saying is that someone that invest 100% to defence shouldnt has option for more than 40% of offence and the opposite. Everything can be done if Devs make a good plan. Last edited by Falginton#0485 on Dec 8, 2025, 11:23:09 AM
