Spell totems costing charges to summon is tragic.

First off Flicker strike is turned into a "spender" skill and now spell totems is turned into a "spender" skill. Can you give it a rest with the forced Generator/Spender adaptations of PoE1 skills that people love.

One of the big complaints about D4 was how there was so much "Generator/spender" gameplay, and you're doing the exact same thing with beloved poe1 skills in poe2.

I'd understand adjusting a skill slightly from game to game, but you've turned the play style of both skills on their heads.

It's not even like the spell is stronger than normal.

The should change it entirely to this

Spell Totem consumes up to 3 charges if available.
"
- For each Endurance Charge consumed, Spell Totem deals 10% more Fire Damage and has 20% increased Ignite Magnitude.
- For each Frenzy Charge consumed, Spell Totem deals 10% more Lightning Damage and has 10% increased Shock Magnitude. .
- For each Power Charge consumed, Spell Totem deals 10% more Cold Damage and has 20% increased Chill/Freeze buildup.


But I imagine using that support gem to make things not consume charges will be the work around for this, even though it has a limit to 1 totem it's still mad cringe.

Stop trying to make Builders/Spenders a thing.

Support gem - "Cannot Support Skills which require Charges or Infusion to be used." Unfortunately not a work around.

"Devour" from the Wyvern Shapeshift seems simple & fast enough to gain Power Charge. It target corpse (& low life monsters), it can dash to the target & by default hit three nearby target/usage.
Its not just spell totems, there are so many generator(charges)-spender gems it's really annoying If you dont Like that typeof gameplay^^

Id Love to Play spear but almost every gem has a "when you consume a Frenzy Change....", personally think its lame

Ya, I prefer skills that use charges to gain bonus damage or bypass cooldowns as they're more flexible. You still get to use the skill, it just isn't super charged all the time until you invest in enabling that.
They give it charges, so it can be powerful. If you could place a totem to casts multiple comets instead of manually casting them by yourself - why would you spend the time casting a comet? The totem damage would have to be nerfed significantly. By making the spell totems require multiple charges, they can be more powerful than they otherwise would.

Guessing you've not played PoE1 because spell totems work and are balanced just fine without requiring charge spending there...
All they've done is delete what would have been a full new build archetype to poe2 and turn it into something that's just added on to another build.
This sucks so bad. I love spell totems. Why can't we just have our chill put down totem playstyle without the stars aligning just right to be able to place 1 totem. Just give it reduced damage and let us enjoy ourselves, don't force us through hoops to have the playstyle we enjoy.
