I agree. You've identified the problem with how player sustain (regen, leech, etc) make monster one-shots mandatory, and all other incoming attacks almost negligible. Which in turn promotes the play-style of clearing the screen before you get hit.
Thanks :) got it from GGG interviews and other Youtube video's. I stopped playing PoE2 endgame.

It seems like the original problem was mobs being too aggressive. Eventually this was fixed, but by then a bunch of other changes where made. Players got tons of recovery, so for mobs to be a threat they had to be capable of one-shots. It seems to me the state of combat should be brought back to where it was on release, then the fix to aggressive mobs should be applied and then recovery should be reduced to the state of:
- No flask charges from mobs
- Half the number of flask charges
- No modifications to flask, just change them to recover half of hp over a duration, a few times.
- Only recover flask charges on fountain use, after which mobs have respawned and bosses have healed.
- No passive life regeneration, leech or life on hit (but double the total life to balance it with ES)
- Remove ES from the passive tree (to balance it with armour and evasion)
Now the game can be balanced around skill. No more one-shots. If you do a good job you never get hit at all. Only TP back to fountain because you messed up and need to try again.
Asking GGG to delete poe 2 in a nutshell...
Why not?
More work will be put in POE1.

Only thing I agree with is to remove the ES nodes.
While some of the one-shots are BS, it fundamentally adds a layer of difficulty that makes the game fun. If you cant get 1 shotted, you are pretty much never dying with decent gear, which makes the game boring.
One shot design basically alienates players and only attracts certain people. I like defensive and counter play for example, block based skills.
One shots mean that my playstyle which is viable in PoE.
Isn't in PoE2.
And its not just defensive players, you're basically shrinking your player base down to people who like PoE AND Dark Souls games.
I like PoE, I dislike Dark Souls.
Thus I went back to PoE1 when the boss change was implemented and won't return unless defensive actually makes a difference.
They need to balance the game properly, not take the lazy shortcut of just "bosses can just kill you, your stats don't matter."

You have no idea what you are talking about. The game plays nothing like Dark Souls.

It's indeed a significant change. But I think it's closer to the original vision than the current state. And we already have PoE1 for the overpowered action.

kind of scary that most of you have spent multiple days in this game and dont even understand the basic concepts.

everthing will be doing oneshots if you dont have any defences.
what you describe in your suggestions is a different game. its not poe1 or poe2.

try playing poe1 with 10 skillpoints invested into health/defences on leaguestart. i dont think you will be having a pleasant experience. its basically the same as in poe2. most people just refuse to invest into defences or dont understand that it would fix their problems.

Some bosses should one-two shot you you should not be able to bruteforce your way vs bosses not on pinnalce and high levels (Maybe with mirrors worth of builds). Bosses should always be a 2-3 min fight with skillchecks and not oneshot it or be oneshoted mechanics like it is currently.

Plenty of players with enormous defences are still getting one-shot. Especially with armour because it's still terrible.

Maybe you're playing ES, in which case you have a chance of surviving one-shots. Also, life-based players cannot put passive points into life. It's just armour, which is horrible. They on purpose maintain the ability of mobs to one-shot the player, no matter how much armour the player has, in order for those mobs to remain a threat to the player. And even if you play ES it's still one-shots from the player side all over the place. And it almost has to be, otherwise you're going to die. All bosses can be killed in less than 1 second with all decent builds, how is that balanced?

I just did a testrun A1 on Warrior 0.3 patch and oh boy the combat is all over the place.
Bosses fall over by autoattacking but i get two shot by these green nemeis white mobs ? Not long ago in 0.1 bossing used to be what makes this game interesting.
What the hell happened to this game ?

I haven't read the patch notes in detail, but I don't think I've seen any mention of a change on bosses in the campaign. I really hope they addressed that as well... but we'll have to see. I agree with you that bosses in campaign felt good in 0.1 and a bit of a joke by 0.3.
"Sigh"
