What Will Happen When The Mercenaries League Ends

But what happens to crops / bars and the Kingsmarch workers?

WOW!!!
I did not think that Mercs would be considered to go core.
But because it will at some point please make them go to Kingsmarch as mappers, it will give players who have multiple characters more space to hunt different Merc for each playstyle and for people like me who run only one (sometimes two) characters per league it would give more agency over mappers.
For example we can make party that can run maps that we cannot, if map have cannot leech we would give it to party that has high regen etc.

Is it possible to retain specifically the Neon Mercenary as at least a placeholder for when Mercs return? He's so rare, it would be a shame for the people who found him (notably not me) to lose him if Mercs are going to come back eventually.

Damn, even after 5,000 hours there is no way I ever log in again without mercenaries. The single most intersting mechanic that has ever been introduced to poe 1 or 2. Extremely disappointing news. Next league is an instant skip, fingers crossed mercs will be back before poe 1 is made completely irrelevant by poe 2.
