Evasion: Hot Trash.

Little bit of “feedback” on Evasion in 0.3
It’s fine for mapping — as long as you deal enough damage to instantly kill everything on the screen. It absolutely sucks against bosses and Delirium uniques. Might be that higher enemy accuracy ratings make them always hit you. Feels like it. Deflection does nothing. An attack comes, you don’t dodge, you don’t deflect — you die. Same problem with enemy accuracy: it basically never procs against the enemies where it would actually matter. What happened to the 100% Deflection they talked about in 0.3? Not even possible to get. Not that I’d be happy to spend a ton of points on it, but still — it’s useless the way it exists. So: Evasion as a single defense layer is as useless as ever. We can evade all attacks now, but getting high evasion ratings is much more difficult than before 0.3 — feels pretty much the same overall. What do we do? a) Get as many hit points as possible to prevent one-shots. Doesn’t work. Hit points are basically nonexistent for Dex-based classes — 3000 feels like a lot when you try to stack them, and yeah… it’s not. Bosses one-shot you with their most basic attacks. Even with Undying Hate, which basically gives 20% less damage taken — happens all the time. b) Go back to Evasion/ES. Well, great. Wasn’t that the reason Deflection was introduced — so evasion classes wouldn’t have to spec into ES? Besides that, low amounts of ES (like 3k on top of 2.xk HP) feel like trash. It prevents one-shots if it’s full. Without the now-nerfed Eternal Youth, it’s usually not full. I ran with Convalescence and Ghost Dance — that’s 60 Spirit just to somehow refill the damn shields — and it feels like garbage. Half the time, you have to stand around waiting for the shield to refill, or you run around with shields down and effectively have 2k HP during that time. It’s been 5 weeks of me playing different crossbow builds, and nothing felt remotely safe. I made it to level 98 and just stopped playing that character, knowing that dealing with the current defensive “options” would just be frustrating every single day. No wonder everybody plays the same two builds if the most essential mechanics are this badly balanced. These half-thought-out giga-nerfs really make me question what tf is going to happen with this game over time. I started on the first day of 0.1, got around 2.5k hours in PoE 2 — and this is the first time I genuinely don’t want to play anymore. Basically go LA Deadeye, Spark Bloodmage, or eat sh*t — well, no thanks. Last bumped on Oct 17, 2025, 3:37:30 PM

I've always dodged everything in the game, i play melee.
Reason why i dont need accrobatic. I've always seen accrobatic as a choice for people who dont want to dodge every slam/AOE. They would pay a high price for it but fair enough if it's them choice. Forcing accrobatic on everyone surprised me a lot. I lost 30% evasion on my charactere that is in standard. It's a struggle since. Not because i'm dying but because i'm taking loads of small hits and i'm again getting stun even with what i invested in stun before. I still dodge, because who want to gamble a slam of a coffin guy or whatever? So i just feel punished overall with that change. Now it's hard to know how it would have feel without it with all the new monsters effects also. I have to admit that and i will never know if it would have still be doable or not without the forced accrobatic. I think i would have been fine but there is always that question in my head also. My guy in standard is hybrid so overall it's kinda ok i guess, i got some better gear but it's still 20% less evasion than i used to have. And i'm still dodging everything. Not even trying to invest in deflect seem pointless to me. I tryed pure evasion in Abyss league on another guy. Was kinda ok i think overall until the last change with 0.3.1. Probably mostly because of the new monster accuracy than because of the loss of evasion. I randomly get hit for half my life and that was not the case prior of 0.3.1. Not as bad anyway. I can understand they need to act VS glass canon build on them rhoa with mirror tier gear. Just feel bad as a regular player to have to pay that price. Kinda gave up for now on that one and just playing my guy in standard until i figure a way to swap to EV/ES on that other one. Atm i just dont feel like it, i dont have currency to swap my gear and try to roll good mods on them anyway. It's my only bad point of the whole league for me, i'm loving the content and everything other than that. I just hope they revert the forced accorbatic at some point for people who want to dodge instead because i believe it was a mystake. All three defenses end up being garbage on their own.
It's sad. With the passive trees circle of attributes/defenses, there ought to be effectively 6, or even 7, categories of build. And all of them should be perfectly functional in even the hardest content. Pure evasion, pure armor, pure energy shield, the duo hybrids thereof, and the bonus number 7 of using all three if wanted. They should all work. Evasion should be plenty good enough by itself, just as armor and es should. Instead we have this system where- -Evasion is trash because evading a lot of hits is irrelevant if you get one or two shot by the first damage that does get through. -Armor is trash because mitigating damage on the many hits connecting with you is irrelevant if you take so many hits, and still get chonked by big hits, that you get shredded anyway. -Energy shield is trash because having that big "2nd health bar" is irrelevant when everything deals its damage to you and you have no mitigation so all that red and blue health is instantly yoinked. Meanwhile it's so difficult/expensive to actually get gear that has good defense values in the first place. One my characters that in premise would be a "pure evasion" type is sitting at about 40% expected chance to evade on the character sheet, because I cannot for the life of me find, craft, or trade for gear that would make it higher. I'd check the actual stat number that 40% comes from if I was currently in game. Not to mention that elemental resists do not feel like resists, because instead of a feel where 0 resist is default/minimum and building resist is mitigation, it's setup such that capped resist is default/minimum and having any less than cap is like having weakness. In the end all our would be pure-(defense) types eventually have to get turned into some form of hybrid because all three defense options just don't work well enough on their own. Or, alternatively, your only real defense is dps, because the most effective form of damage prevention is the enemy already being dead. I do so hope that doesn't remain the feel of the game. " I was at 40% when I was very early in maps so it makes me think you haven't invested much into the skill tree and aren't prioritizing defences when upgrading bases with essence for example or using EV runes. All the top EHP builds on ninja are running hybrid, yes. You just need to invest a lot into evasion to make it comparable so pure evasion is not used as much. Deflection on every piece of gear, % and flat evasion rating on jewels/amulet/ring, chance to blind enemies, increased blind effect on jewels and skill tree (if you want to turn your brain off even more), increased global defence abyss prefix/essence prefix on amulets for when you take hp damage, etc. Evasion is still incredibly busted if you invest enough into it. You still need to avoid red attacks from bosses but these are well telegraphed in my opinion by both sound and aura. Endgame is repeating the same content over and over; there isn't really an excuse for being hit by these unless you are early into mapping and are still learning. Progression is rewarded for learning content, not bypassing it. Personally, armour and ES builds should not be able to survive these either without stacking tons of health and damage reduction like with certain affixes on uniques. I can't say I ever get stunned since I use Stone Charm on my SSF toon. You can get increased charges gained and gain x charges per second on the charm itself as well as a belt. I only play SSF and it is my duty as one to inform you of my status. Last edited by SoFaux#7759 on Oct 12, 2025, 7:31:12 PM

" I'm someone who always invest a lot in defense. I'm lvl 91 on T15 maps. I play SSF. I was way above 40% when i reached maps lol Did you went further than early map on that charactere? That's kinda important. I have 19 points into evasion on my tree, i was planning to take the last only 2 points available there also. There is no more after. I have 29% block chance also and capped resist with 85% chaos resist. 50% chance to deflect. As i said, i dodge, i avoid red flash attack, i in fact avoid all of them. Slam and AOE also, just like before. I played this game a lot and defensive of all sort always mattered to me more than my DPS. So maybe there is a little problem with evasion. I'm nowhere near to be someone complaining easily about the game. I'm also nowhere near to be the only one saying it's a problem the forced accrobatic. Again i'm only talking about the forced accrobatic. It's my only problem. I know how it work otherwise. I tryed it. It's less good/effectiv than it was in 0.2 if you're not a ranger/projectile charactere. " This is exactly what i dont want, why my problem with thoose changes. It was made because people dont want to dodge. SSF player Last edited by BlastYa#4875 on Oct 13, 2025, 1:27:14 AM

Because they designed Deflection wrong. Should be like ;
%100 chance to deflect %x damage. Then your % X evasion rating should deflect % damage depending how high your evasion is. What is the point %60 chance to deflect 1928731928371927398127 damage?? %60 not working out of 2 times of enemy attack... |

" Yo dawg, we heard you liked evasion. So we stacked your evasion, on top of your evasion. So now you can evade, while you evade! And yea, GGG has always knee-jerk reacted to things and either overbuffs or overnerfs stuff. It's been like this for years as far as I can recall. " I'm doing an Evasion-only melee challenge run right now, and my character is pretty tanky so far. I invested heavily into Blind (both Herald of Ice and Wind Dancer have Blind II, and I've taken all the nodes that increase Blind effect) and almost nothing ever hits me. The main danger is ground effects. Still in white maps with this character, so I might hit a ceiling. But it seems viable so far. SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

Honestly i think they're gonna take this game towards dark souls even after they said they're considering otherwise...i think ultimately they're gonna run the game down to the ground by nerfing everything to death no ones gonna play a game where u get 1 shotted by white mobs. this season is LOADS better on that front but it still happens and Evasion is useless 100% i dont even bother with defenses they are all not worth a damn thing once you get to pinnacle content and higher end mapping. the best defense is all offense baby defense doesn't do anythign for you...max resists? you will still be 1 shotted in t15 white mobs and some rares and bosses ofc. high EV and ES is a big waste of time since some delirium bosses will hit u for millions of damage literally in one shot. and you're correct deflection doesnt' do a damn thing. I played around with it its useless. none of my resists are maxed now...1k hp and just under 2k ES and i survive most of the time. took me awhile to figure out that ALL defense is broken in this game dont even bother with it just stack DPS...resists and all that are only useful for the campaign and thats it

you are supposed to avoid damage with your mouse
and evasion does the job when you fail, just needs some spices, like %damage taken from mana, damage taken from your pet and blind. i also freeze all rares with 1-1,5 hit and they usually stay frozen until death. so much player errors, ignoring map mods and facetanking d:-D*
