Sukhemas map afflictions.

Can we not have afflictions line up so that you are forced to choose one. Its so antifun to have to choose your entire map path based around taking the least intrusive affliction.

I hit floor two and right away HAVE to choose an affliction. Immediately I sigh and regret that I'm trapped in this system I hate, attempting to capture ascendancy points.

There is no fun to be had the way this system is setup. Choosing negatives is just fucking troll. Do I want to stick a needle in my toe or a needle in my finger, hmm.

How about its harder to start, and we're choosing things to make it easier. How about we get hit with random boons as well and are forced to choose between those?

If BOTH happened... well that would be much better. Then it wouldn't be just an endless getting effed. Which somehow, someone, or a collection of somethings, thought would be fun.

If you just didn’t have afflictions the mechanic would just be too easy. There has to be some pushback in sekhemas after all.

Maybe reread OPs post. He's talking about anti-fun, not difficulty.

Agreed I think it’s important to have to make those choices like 3 starting afflictions on floor 2; and just asking to change something because it’s “anti fun” is probably not a great approach

Would be like asking to remove or change dying as it’s “anti-fun”

What do you mean?

You want me to tell you how to fix it too? Do I need to get into the details of balancing fun/challenge? Common man.

You can still have them on the paths- you'll still be forced to map around them, or forcibly take them sometimes. You just won't run into a wall of them.

It'd be nice to have some good ones too. You get free penalties but never free boons. Note I said free, start of room, not end.

Its just all centered around negativity. No one likes being forced to choose between x bad things. Its a bad model, simple.

Make it more difficult and people have to choose between good things.

Would you rather choose +25% monster damage or -25% monster damage?

It doesn't matter that you didn't know monster damage started at +25%. Everyone will enjoy choosing -25%, and never want to choose +25%.
I would love for the afflictions system to be reworked, because sometimes you legit have no good options, and for 4 floors... Like we need more ways to remove afflictions or change afflictions, or possibly have a choice between multiple afflictions per map, like when choosing your reward, also have to choose 1/3 afflictions perhaps

No. This would make the trial, not a trial. But a handout. You are presented with three choose the least crap one and continue.

This post of yours sounds like you don’t know how to run sekhemas rather than there being anything wrong with it.

I’d suggest looking up anything help wise through guides or understanding how to path correctly, and/or what afflictions don’t even do anything to you.


I could use the same silly argument about afflictions using your own logic

Sigh. I knew, i needed to like bold 'free' in all caps. I just meant in the same way you get afflictions.

My focal point was that its all negative based interactions.

Yes, there are boons that do nothing depending on build- which is why the afflictions are doing nothing. :/

Doesn't matter, its an opinion. I could of course be wrong and sukhemas is fine. Perhaps the general player base does actually think its fine.

I think we'd all have a hard time keeping a straight face with that falling out of our mouths.

Anyways, your responses are better than most.

They could just make the individual boss fights or maps themselves within the trial more challenging and tailored towards a difficult encounter rather than just slap on generic "okay you have ZERO defence now :D"
or "Everything kills you in ONE hit now :D"
or "Your DAMAGE is now 1%! :D"
