i have about 50k armor and i die easily from regular monsters

You have 2.35k life theres why.

Like I get you have a lot of armour, but at a certain point you need to grab other defenses. Armour applied to ele does help, but in the end.

You have no health cushion.

And youre playing titan as well, so there really is no excuse for sub 3k, crossbow or not.

You are not going for defenses sadly with what I am looking at, the trampletoe and the ryslathas tell us otherwise.

And several pieces of gear focusing on damage prefixes over a single life roll....

Few things to fix:

1) Rings, should have at least 100 on each. You have none on one of them...
2) Gloves have no life on them.
3) Armour has 0 life on it
4) Helmet has barely any life on it
5) None of your gear has... any strength on it(life as well)
6) Amulet get %increased health with a life roll for cheap...

It's all well and good saying things like this, but at this point you're really getting down to brass-tacks and very specific levels of optimisation - this kind of talk should really be a super endgame thing for taking on the most difficult of content, which is fine in THIS instance, as the OP is at that point.

But what he is explaining is a thing felt by loads of people, because the game generally does a very bad job at effectively showing you how to reduce damage and a lot of things are counter-intuitive, for example going Chaos Inoculation and making your life 1 and stacking 'energy shield' gets your more effective HP than stacking life could EVER get you.

So people come into the game, think "okay I will get armour and max my resistances, I should be durable after doing that"

and then they do it and they're not durable at all, also sources of life are so much more scarce. Especially because unlike energy shield or other sources of effective HP (mana) there is barely anything on the passive tree to actually increase max life, either as a flat value or % based. There are some but they're so few and far between.

Honestly, it would probably be better for him to scrap life altogether and just go armour + energy shield items.

i mean you don't pick life/armor and not put life on any of your gear, so no this is not an endgame specific thing at all

ES players know to get items with ES, why don't life players?

No its not even optimization at all.

But even if it was. Thats what making a successful build is all about.

Otherwise you are just making something wrong. And then expecting a handout for some reason at the end.

Disagree, and asking it to give you more than what it already does, is bordering on handholding rather than any skill expression, experimentation, knowledge, and interaction with the game.

Rather than it just showing you everything to take at all times. Like some advanced perfected POB simulator.

So people come into the game, think "okay I will get armour and max my resistances, I should be durable after doing that"

And those people would be wrong, and thats part of learning and skill progression.

Not just mechanical skill expression, but also learning the games systems and how they interact.

You would be massively wrong in this case.
Mash the clean
Defences are completely nonsense. Only DPS wirth it if you want survive. That's why 99% of builds reached 100 level have insane values in DPS and mediocre defences. And yes i count ES as not defence element but it's the most effective defensive way that supports DPS zoomers.
