Some input from POE2 player.

Some QoL features that could be ported to POE1:

1. Controls:
I play both POE1 and (mainly) POE2, and I constantly press the wrong buttons when browsing my stash, managing equipment, or even during combat. I wish I could unify the controls between these two games. Would you consider allowing that? It would be a huge quality-of-life improvement.

2. Checkpoints:
Backtracking is a thing — and with Blink having a cooldown, it can feel slow (I’m level 75). I know that POE1 builds usually become insanely fast later on, but during the campaign and early maps, it’s definitely noticeable.

3. Auto-Identify:
I don’t understand why identifying items is still such a hassle, even in endgame. It’s an item-focused game, yet I can’t afford to identify everything. I don’t want to constantly worry about wisdom scrolls — or even portal scrolls.

4. Skill and Game Mechanics Descriptions:
I love how in POE2 I can press R3 and see detailed tags and explanations. In POE1, I often have to look up information outside the game. It’s really tough for new players. I first played POE1 years ago but gave up after reaching endgame — too many systems and skill trees I couldn’t understand coming from D2 (and D3). Now that I know POE2 well, I still have to look things up. (Seriously — what’s Corrupted Blood? :D)

5. Asynchronous Trading:
POE1 desperately needs Ange’s help:) — but I think everyone already knows that.

6. Skills on Gear:
Having skills tied to gear feels like an odd design choice. I much prefer POE2’s approach with a separate skill tab. Those gear sockets could be used for something else — like runes in Diablo 2 or POE2. But I understand that would be a huge change
That said, one thing I do prefer in POE1 is that skills level up as you use them. That’s awesome and should be brought into POE2! It feels natural and gives that same sense of progression as in Skyrim.

7. Crafting:
This was one of the main reasons I wanted to try POE1 — I’d heard so many good things about its crafting system and watched several guides. But honestly, after POE2’s 0.3 patch, I think POE2 might have the superior system now — less RNG overall. Am I wrong?
I know you can deterministically finish one side (prefixes or suffixes), but then you have to reroll the other side multiple times, which feels very RNG-heavy — especially since you’re rerolling three affixes at once.

8. Dodge button - I know that in the endgame some builds can one-shot everything, but during the campaign or early maps, a dodge button really helps. I often find myself missing it when I’m about to get surrounded or hit by AoE attacks — especially during boss fights. Blink has cooldown, and mana can be drained, preventing you from using it.

9. Graphics - I hope that once POE2 is released, you’ll consider setting a timeframe for a POE1 remake or at least a remaster :)

clearly you prefer POE2, maybe just play the game you like instead of suggesting changes to the one you dont.

I didn't say I don't like it. I like it very much. Don't you consider these points (except point 6, because it may be controversial) as straight up improvements?

I also wanna know someone's opinion about crafting. But opinion from someone also knows 0.3 crafting very well. I'm curious if poe1 has more to offer in terms of crafting as I already explored. I love being able to make specific items with the least rng possible.

Checkpoints are pretty good, but I wouldn't want them in POE1, they seem to fit well in the POE2 campaign, which surprised me a bit.

I think they have added mass identify, mid this league, you might of missed it if playing POE2. So you might be happy about that.

They can certainly improve in game information, but that is a massive job, I think it will be some way off and gradual if it does happen. They need to improve it further in POE2 as well, even with some improvements that have been made. I agree though, would be good.

No changes to skill system. It is still a work in progress in POE2. POE1 skill system works better currently. There may be some things that can be brought across, but it still has a lot of work needed in POE2, and should not be used for a template, at the very least not until they have it working in that game, which I think still needs a lot of improvement. Likely this is just a point of difference in the games, where they can both work but be different.

Similar with dodge roll. Different games, different gameplay mechanics, that don't translate, and can be different. The gameplay is much different. As you mention, movement skills in POE1 account for this.

What is the control function that is not the same? Other than WASD, active blocking/dodge and weapon swap they seem pretty similar to me. What is the action you are performing that doesn't translate? Is there something that doesn't have an associated input between the games other than what I've mentioned? Having stash tabs as compatible as possible is something I agree with.

They did at some point improve the graphics a couple of years ago, which I think might of been due to things they were doing with POE2. I think what they have got currently is good. If they can keep them updated from time to time that would be good, but I don't think it needs much. The visuals they brought in for the bosses in Merc league were not an improvement, they should just keep them current, but probably avoid new colour schemes like these. The settlers graphics were fine. POE2 graphics are good, but POE1 does not need a remaster in my opinion, the stuff they have created is quite good and I would not want the design changed, it just will likely need a few updates from time to time, as they did.

So I disagree with most of ur suggestions, because I enjoy both games differently and don't want them to force stuff into either that doesn't fit. That doesn't mean u're wrong if u'd prefer that.

In detail:

1 - WASD in PoE2 feels good, but comes at the detriment of good mouse controls. The click to move in PoE is waaaaayyyy better than click to move in PoE2, it's not even close. If they would be able to combine both I'd be happy, but right now PoE2 is just made for WASD and Controler and it shows unfortunately.

2 - no need for checkpoints in PoE. The game gets very fast later on and maps are way smaller than in PoE2. When u learn the layouts, there's almost no backtracking.

3 - already in game afaik

4 - Sure would be a nice addition, but I guess it's a lot of work.

5 - will come, probably in 3.27

6 - No thanks. I prefer PoEs gem system over PoE2 style abilities. PoE2 seems way more restrictive, but maybe it wouldn't be as bad without the weapon locking.

7 - Big NO to that. I'm having a good understanding of current crafting in PoE2 0.3 and it improved alot from previous versions, thanks to abyss and new omens/tiered currency. That being said, it's still way behind what PoE offers.
The problem with PoEs crafting is, that it's extremely deep and requires tons of knowledge to execute properly. If u'll understand and learn it tho, it is sooooo rewarding. U can do 10 times more with items than u could in PoE2 right now.

8 - No thanks. I prefer movement skills over dodge roll honestly. Even in PoE2 I tend to avoid dodge rolling at this point unless I'm sure I'd get hit by a one shot otherwise.

9 - Well PoE2s graphics are top notch, so I wouldn't have a problem with that :)

I play on playstation, so controls are way different.

Mass identifying is in the game, but it still cost wisdom scrolls, which I can't sustain.

The other thing my friend told me is that there's no cross play between playstation and PC. Thus trading on PS5 is almost non existent. Would be cool if they added cross platform trading.

How about this crafting question? Anyone had some experience with both systems?

Yeah, read my #7.

/edit: Btw. I don't know how far into PoE u r, but sustaining wisdom scrolls is not an issue after some time. Just sell transmutes to the vendors if u're really low. No one picks up wisdoms after early endgame. (around T10 maps I'd say)

Also as a console player I can see why u want PoE2 controls in PoE. PoE was designed for mouse and they implemented controller support later, that's why it isn't as refined as the PoE2 controls. I wouldn't mind if they copy some of the functions, like inventory management. The skills however need a bigger rework to feel the same and that will change how mouse controls feel I'm afraid.

No, I do not consider these "improvements" from a POE1-viewpoint.

1. POE's movement is fine for the type of combat that POE1 has. WASD makes sense for the in-depth interaction of dodging. Mouse movement is superior for zoomy looting.

2. POE1 Maps arent big enough or linear enough to need checkpoints. Just use movement skills.

3. I think the scrolls are fairly integral to the POE1 basics of the game. They arent a huge deal anyway. Basic resource management in campaign and non-issue later (infinite suppy)

4. Not against adding more info in game to help players, but also not against the 3rd party websites tools. Biggest issue here is the dev time it would take to effectively implement. GGG is already short staffed between the 2 games, and I think this should fall pretty low on priorities of dev wishlists.

5. Potentially an improvement, we will see. GGG has already said it will make its way to POE1 at some point.

6. Skills gems/sockets are at the core of POE1 design. Asking for this to be changed is essentially asking for POE1 to be replaced by POE2. Just play POE2, it already exist.

7. To be fair, I'm not a POE2 player, but that being said, almost certainly not true. POE1 crafting is amazing. Always room for improvement obviously, but the direction should NOT be to make it more like POE2. Devs have this one figured out, just keep cookin GGG.

8. Same as movement suggestion. POE1 and POE2 have to very different combat systems. The character movement and combat interaction is at the core of why we have 2 separate games right now, instead of a single overhauled game (the original vision for what became POE2). Let POE2 be POE2 and POE1 be POE1.

9. POE1 gets incremental graphics updates all the time. I'm all for that. Asking them to go from current -> POE2 is not realistic. Again let each game be what it is.

If you are short on wisdom scrolls, you haven't traded other orbs for them. The ONLY time I am short on wisdom scrolls...ever....is the first half of Act 1. And that is WITH identifying a lot of rares (mostly jewelry and boots).

Crafting in PoE 1 is years ahead of PoE 2. Which is depressing, since GGG has all that framework right there and they....left it out for some reason. PoE 1 offers far more control, far more middle ground outcomes, far better high end, and just a much more fun experience.

Dodge roll: GGG stated I believe back in the time of announcing the game split, that they could NOT make this work in PoE 1 due to limitations with the way skills are encoded and how our characters move and cast skills. If they were to jankily throw it in....it would see no use because we already have the far better, specially designed options of the blinks and other movement skills.

Checkpoints: totally unnecessary. areas are tiny. Our movement speed, through skills alone, is like 10x faster than PoE 2 . I bet it'd actually take longer to open the map, find the right checkpoint, click on the chieckpoint, load the checkpoint....then to actually just move there.

Descriptions in-game: There is quite a lot of information in-game. Holding "alt" also provides more information. Looking at the "help" section provides even more. I'm not exactly sure what PoE 2 provides that PoE 1 doesn't ALSO provide...in most cases.

Skills outside of gear: as long as they change nothing else about how it works, I think this would actually be AMAZING. I have a goddamn hard time seeing the socket colors and links even with colorblind mode on and various other screen coloring adjustments. Putting it off to the side on a separate window would be great. But that should be the ONLY thing they take from PoE 2: I find the skill system in PoE 2 to be the developer's greatest mistake and a HUGE HUGE HUGE step backwards in terms of innovation and customization.
Starting anew....with PoE 2

Idk how long you been playing poe1. I think its impossible to give genuine feedback without years of playing. The new player experience is kind of out the window at this point. As compared to d4 and poe2 there is a lot more to learn before you are really playing the same game as a mildly experienced player. You can follow guides and stuff, but you really just don't know what you're doing or whats going on for real. Its obvious because of you're take on dodge/roll and blink skills.

I personally think working on the graphics (outside of performance) or asynch trade is a waste of time. But i play ssf so im biased. I would rather be able to map with a controller and do inventory with keyboard+mouse.

Keep playing and keep learning, you will learn that most of these issues aren't really issues.
