Microtransactions - Locking End Game Behind a Paywall

"
OP bought the wrong things with his points and now wants the game to change.

What did you buy?

DistributedAutomaton#5739: I felt your original comment was very rude and said as much. Maybe instead of trying to push the conversation, maybe addressing that first might be best?

Considering you have bought 6 Supporter Packs for the game, I don't feel you asking me about what I have bought and asserting that "I bought the wrong things" is really very appropriate.
Get a currency stash tab when it's on sale, then one normal stash tab and you don't really need anything else honestly

That said, they could expand the number of free stash tabs a little, maybe by completing some kind of challenge in the end game which gives you +1, but stash tabs is pretty much their only source of revenue since the game is f2p (will be)

Every f2p game needs a way to monetize. You can go the route of something like g2w where you need to buy expansions to even unlock part of the game, you can do like RuneScape and have a "premium" sub, you can go the p2w route like most mobile games nowadays, you can monetize only cosmetics...

Of all those options and some more, probably only selling cosmetics and nothing else is more "fair" than Poe monetization system, but it's still better than anything else

All complaints, no data.
SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

While I feel that maybe the End Game demands more of an investment, I appreciate your comment. I agree that even a few more Earnable Stash Tabs in the game - maybe even making the basic "Currency" tab earnable would be a huge improvement to the experience.

I can appreciate that the POE2 system is more ethical than a lot of what is currently available, but I feel that with just a small tweak it could be better. Things just seem a little too expensive.

As a new player, I do wish the "600 Points" in the Supporter Packs was Highlighted more significantly. It seems hidden amoung the features - I honestly thought they were just cosmetic packs. The supporter packs as a whole do feel more valuable as a result~

Well, that depends how much you play and how big of a loot goblin you are. If we are talking about efficiency though, you will eventually reach the point where only the most strict filter is worth it, and that doesn't take long to reach. At that point, what goes to your stash is mostly raw currency which the currency stash tab covers

The rest is mostly qol in my opinion. Delirium stash tab for example, I bought it just because I like my stuff organized and looking clean, but all the stuff I have there wouldn't cover even a line in a normal tab

But yea it's expensive. Some countries like mine pay 5-10x more than others if we base on local prices, since prices aren't adjusted to region

Of all the things to complain about. The amount of hours you would have to spend on this game for this to even become a recognizable problem I'm betting would have to be quite a lot. This is just an insane thing to say. This company has a history of putting out so much content with zero pay required. People support the company with supporter packs & such because they want to support a good company.

I mean, I don't feel it is an "insane" thing to say. As mentioned earlier, my experience is as a new player, so I am unfamiliar with the what they have done in the past to earn the title of "good company". The fact that you have loyalty to them and feel they are doing an excellent job speaks volumes <3 So I massively appreciate the insight.

From a person who isn't loyal to the company though, coming in at this stage, I can only speak from my own personal experience. You mention the amount of hours for this to be a recognisable problem, but games like this tend to be geared towards the End Game, which is "When the game really begins".

Like, the story is really quite generic and doesn't feel well written - but that is my personal opinion. I don't feel the gameplay is really designed to tell the story, so much that the story is almost secondary to the gameplay.

The intial 30 hours to get through the campaign feels necessary for learning how the gameplay works, as it allows you to learn the different mechanics at a good pace. But I wouldn't say that the amount of hours invested to get to End Game is, "Insane" - and most of the game leading up to the End Game is just teaching you how to play the game.

As I have mentioned previously, I have no issues with people wanting to support the company and it's genuinely lovely to hear about your positive experiences. But there is still room for improvement and quality of life that can further enhance the experience, whilst still being of a huge benefit to the company.

I did mention just how much they have earned in early acceess alone. The MTX do feel excessive

Haha! And I AM a loot goblin XD

It's one of the big reasons I love the game lol. I completely agree the Delrium tab is like... 4 1x1 squares! It really doesn't seem necessary at all, so there is something to be said for picking and choosing carefully. Like first learning how delerium works before investing. It would help if they showed you exactly what the tab looks like before hand - maybe I didn't see that on there?

I will have to look into loot filters. I seem them talked about alot, but because I am on console, I haven't looked into it as it brings up a webpage outside of the game on my playstation? Sounds like this will help with overwhelm at least~

But still - if you want to craft, getting miltiple copies of bases is going to take up space and then wanting to trade cast offs that didn't work out the best will cost in merchant stash.

I had no idea the prices aren't adjusted to region! That might actually be a huge reason why it feels expensive o.o
I have two players who haven't spent a dime and they're doing maps with me just fine.

I've gotten used to easy alt click and go but I also played PoE1 for 4 years without tabs.

From my experience with PoE1 it wasn't really the end-game that was gated. They purposefully polluted the game with tons of fragments, div cards, etc which got me to buy tabs.

That's not really a thing for PoE2... yet. This practice is actually more scrupulous to me than what you apply to PoE2 though given I played 4 years without tabs it also shows they probably needed to improve monetization. Just not in the way they did.

Just look at the Fragments tab for a peak. Most that stuff doesn't stack just to force inventory problems. Point is you're not wrong but they've also gotten better about it. They haven't tried to sell a league tab in years and those are just a gamble on when the content is rewarding.

The reality is this is their business model. If you hate it then I don't know how you'll reconcile that. I also frankly think if you spend somewhere between $30 - $60 USD on tabs you're basically done buying them forever.

I spent around $60 on tabs in like 2015 on Poe1 and never bought any more tabs until this league for the async trade merchant.

Yeah you'll see streamers with like 100 tabs but you don't need that many at all.
