Microtransactions - Locking End Game Behind a Paywall
My initial $30 and a tab sale had me well set for months. I don't see a problem.

" So, because they offer a small discount on stash tabs occassionally, that makes it Okay? Having a sale doesn't invalidate the points that I made. It's not "ironic" and the topic being "old" should tell you something by the way. We are supposed to learn from the past, as human beings, but how can we when people are literally defending this nonesense? I did use my points to get the best value - but as I said in the original post, it's not enough to play the end game with. |

" Your points invalidate themselves. You do not need stash tabs to play the game. I have guildmates that have NEVER bought a single thing, played for years just fine with the 4 initial tabs. What you need to do is not pick up everything that drops on the ground, learn what is valuable and worthwhile. If you choose to buy tabs it's a lot easier, and they are permanent AND they are for BOTH POE1 and POE2. Yes, if you buy a premium stash tab you get to use it in both games forever. So your point about people have already spent hundreds isn't exactly accurate, we have but we did it over years in POE1. You do not need stash tabs to buy items, only to sell them (and that's only for things that aren't in the currency market). Instead of charging everyone every season the game is funded through MTX purchases. It's worked well for over a decade, and allows people who can't or don't want to purchase MTX play for free. |

" Okay, I don't think my points invalidate themselves and I'm not sure why you felt the need to say that. Clearly there is an element of context I am missing - as I didn't play POE1 - so I understand that this is actually a great perk for people who grew with the game. As a NEW PLAYER coming into the game, there's an awful lot to learn and understand, which is a big part of the fun. I'm surprised that you have guildmates that have made do with just the 4 initial stash tabs considering not only the sheer amount of loot, but also the sheer amount of currencies. I understand that you're not supposed to pick up everything off the ground - I wacthed multiple videos on how to assess good loot at a glance to resolve that very issue. But in terms of currencies and the mechanics of crafting, trading, etc... we are talking about a time investment. I'd rather spend time playing the game, than sitting trying to find things in my inventory, sorting through where I put things and trying to individually align bits and pieces - this was all mentioned in my original post. Look - clearly most of you who have replied seem to think it's not an issue - and that's okay. You're fine to disagree. I'm not trying to ruin your enjoyment of the game. I don't feel some of the pointed and targeted comments are necessary, since we are trying to have an open discussion about how to IMPROVE the game, and as a New Player that's coming in, my experience to how the game is is also important. Not all of us can afford to buy supporter packs, stash tabs, cosmetics etc. to make a game more enjoyable - but I am asserting that, with how the end game works, for a person that gets a limited amount of time to play the game, I don't want to spend it moving individual items around for a few hours -_- |

" OP bought the wrong things with his points and now wants the game to change. SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

" Okay, now you're just being a dick about this. First of all, I'm not a guy. You mean with "Her" points. My name is literally Ellie. Secondly, I didn't buy the wrong things - I didn't feel like what I bought was enough to help me in the End Game. Admittedly, I didn't know that the supporter packs came with 600 points, but you don't have to be rude about it. It's this kind of elitist bullshit that makes people feel bad about expressing their experience of the game. I don't want the game to change, because I bought the wrong things. I am enjoying playing the game and made an observation about how it is monetised. If you literally have nothing to add other than to try and talk over me and act like I'm being unreasonable when this is literally meant to be a discussion just makes you come across like a shitty person. |

I've always said that PoE is *not* free to play. PoE2 is no different. That said, I've found the $30 entry fee points to be enough(plus my PoE1 beta purchase of 4 tabs).
The free part is that you get to experience the full game and decide if you want to keep playing it. To keep playing it you need a bunch of extra tabs. I'm against them continously making new content(currencies) that end up requiring their own tab because I don't want to require more tabs. The spirit of OP's post is the truth: You will pay money if you want to do endgame content. |

Well, if you're having to look through your inventory for currency, you definitely haven't bought some of the right things, like a currency tab.

" Thank you FruitLord <3 I appreciate your take. I do enjoy the game. I want to keep playing and I don't mind supporting the company at all. They've made a good game. I just feel like I'm being taken advantage of, because we're not talking about unneeded cosmetics, but the actual purchase of functionality in the game. The fact that they are constantly creating more and more currencies to require more tabs is exactly the issue, because it's creating a need in the game to keep everything important sorted properly so you can enjoy playing the game and it means you have to pay to even trade in the game effectively. I just feel that the people incharge of the MTX should bring down the actual price of everything if they are going to lock functionality behind it, or at least make some stash tabs earnable in the game? |
