How to make currency in PoE2?
|
I don't measure how rewarding loot is in the game based on raw currency drops. That's historically been a noob trap since even the early days of PoE1. Wealth is usually acquired from the valuables one can find and sell.
That being said, I have no idea what is valuable anymore in PoE2. - Right off the bat, I ignore jewels and equipment that drop, because I have no idea how to value those, or whether they're even worth picking up to ID to begin with. Far as I can tell, unless you're running T16 irradiated maps, you can forget about finding bases worth selling, not to mention those will lose value with time anyway. - Crafting? I steer clear of that. It's gambling and I want no part in it. I'm barely making enough currency from the loot I find, I'm not going to blow it all away trying to get lucky. - Expedition is hardly worth farming as splinters lose value and nobody cares about artifacts not to mention how unreliable it is to get logbooks to drop. - Breach's catalysts are pretty much not worth picking up so all you've got is splinters. - Ritual still has valuable loot, but it's heavily gated behind RNG on whether you get a good omen or not. - Delirium has a similar problem in that the valuable distilled emotions are incredibly rare, and splinter drops are losing value. Then we have bonus content. - Essences can't be reliably farmed. You get 1 at best in a map, and that's not even guaranteed. Silent Cave unique maps don't appear enough to make that a viable strategy. - Strongboxes don't feel rewarding unless you get lucky on modifying research boxes - Azmeri wisps, I can't say I've ever had anything good drop from those, it feels like they exist to make the game harder more than anything The best I've done so far is getting lucky and finding 4 Jade Isle maps and looting 2 Rakiata's Flow from them. The rest of my currency has been made bulk selling splinters which, again, are losing value. In PoE1, the options you have to farm for currency are both abundant and obvious, and they don't necessarily have to be meta either. There is simply not enough content in PoE2 right now, so what is available rapidly loses value due to market saturation. So yeah, I'm kinda lost here. I still have room to improve my builds, but I simply lack the currency to afford it. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! The others found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on juice. I am not so foolish. Last bumped on Mar 25, 2026, 6:28:26 PM

simple solution would be to determine what is valuable.
Use exiled exchange 2 |

" I use PoE Overlay for price checking already. The problem I've noticed, which lead to my problem with difficulty determining if it's worth picking up stuff in general, is that everything I find so far is maybe worth 1ex. Other times, there are no items being listed at all. It leads me to believe literally nothing is worth picking up, so I can only assume it's because I'm not understanding what it is people actually want that's worth selling. Anyway, I might grab Exiled Exchange 2. I don't like PoE Overlay constantly butting into my game because I idled in hideout too long and then proceed to blast me with ads. So i'm SSF player and i do not have idea of the market. So i might be wrong.
But in what i read and what i feel as a player is that the crafting system is so powerfull now that most rare items must not be very valuable and only base white item should have value. Than as you said you would need items level 82 for most of them but not all. Some are enough at lvl 81. Some magic items with 2 T1 affixes might be valuable also depending on the affix on it. Like if you find a body armour with T1 ES for exemple with a T1 resistance it might be valuable cause they start on a good base to be crafted further. That's all i can say about items anyway. I found very good rare item i use as a SSF player but i doubt people want to buy anything that isnt T1 in every affixes now. Rituals you would probably want to speck into "more omen chance" and "reduce price of defearing" "more reroll" because thoose omens are probably very pricy. If specked in the lower defearing cost combined with 2 tablets that give reduced cost of defearing you can reach 0 favour for defearing and just reroll. I'm also assuming farming abyss omen should be valuable atm. Basicly anything that is related to the crafting, the component for it. I've read a lot of people make money just staying in hideout and craft items. The league is going for sometimes already so all that might slowly fall down i guess since more people have already completed everything and are gonna start to switch to other games. " If you don't measure it on raw currency drops, then where are you measuring it? Currency trading? If you don't know what's valuable anymore, then how are you able to measure at all. I feel there's a disconnect here. Your title says how to make currency but this seems to be a more complaint on how currency is. |

" I measure based on finding (or trying to find) valuable drops that are worth selling off for currency. Examples include corrupted essences, omens, splinters, etc. Because at one point, I did know what was valuable. Most of the stuff I mentioned in the OP such as splinters and catalysts, at one point, were worth picking up and selling in bulk before they saturated the market. Now it's no longer the case and I have no idea what I should be focusing on next. This isn't a new thing. Even in PoE1, some strategies change or become less viable with time, such as Rog Crafting. I felt the same way starting PoE2 tbh, it’s not as obvious as PoE1 and a lot of stuff just feels like bait early on, what worked for me was stopping trying to chase “big drops” and just focusing on consistent stuff like picking up and ID’ing good bases (especially high ilvl rares with life + res + 1 strong mod), selling anything half decent cheap so it actually moves, and just bulk selling everything instead of hoarding, splinters, essences, whatever still sells if you move it fast, also I started paying more attention to what people are actually buying for builds instead of guessing value, because most of my currency ended up coming from random usable rares rather than anything fancy, it’s kinda boring but way more reliable than hoping for jackpot drops right now

I think Fracturing Orbs, entry tickets, and Tablets are still viable to varying extents.
Spoiler
i don't *really* know tbh, i don't want to make market simulator part of my gameplay. because then might as well just play the margins all day every day. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don't get lost by being so focused on the target that you forget to enjoy your surroundings.

Knowing what makes a good item is something that really just comes from experience, there isn't really another way around it.
You can look up comparable items in a market to try and price match items and check their market value, but there is a difference to understanding that something is valuable and understanding why something is valuable - you're not going to magically receive that understanding without first having the proper context and experience for that to happen. There is no shortcut. Who am I to say anything, I don't respect my time either.
