another one - done after .3.1
After almost 1000 hours, I can officially say I’m done with this game and it’s because of .31
I’m a casual dad gamer, the idea I get one try on a map to have 3 tablets is just so frustrating. Before this patch, GGG I could run a 5 mod 3x delierium map with 3 towers and still be able to finish the map after being mobbed by invisible breach, bs fog, lag, one shots and all the other BS that comes with early access. Why your team is so hell bent on single life maps, I will never understand. It’s just not a good fit for this type game. I have played and platinum trophies every souls game on release, I like challenging. But that doesn’t work with aarpg’s. I LOVE the idea of slower content, combo mechanics and push away from zoom zoom. What you’re building in end game, literally does the opposite of this. It’s almost as if you have 2 games, one for story one for end game. The trade and crafting is overly complex, to the point it doesn’t even need to be this confusion (look at last epoch). Async is great, but it requires constantly looking up items to understand what the price should be, because the only way to get decent gear in end game is to buy it from other players since there is no way I’m making 60-70 raw div from maps. You guys need to pick your audience. Your story is way too long to come back to every 2-3 months to do over. Your end game isn’t geared towards making those characters fun to play without punishing death penalties… Figure it out GGG, you’re alienating your audiences on both sides of the spectrum and whatever you’re doing isn’t working. And for the love of god, stop with the 1 death per map BS. This just isn’t fun when half the map or more is covered with ground mechanics, swarming enemies that stun lock you and laser beams that just melt your face. Good luck, I guess. Casual dad HCSSF gamer here, too.
If you're consistently dying, you are overjuicing your map for the powerlevel of your build. Yes, there are many buggy gameplay mechanics, such as invisible mobs, effects, lag, ect. But I have 3 toons at level 90 in HCSSF, it's not that bad. If I die, I literally have to start at level 1 on the beach and lose all of my gear. You can't lose a single map? What is the point of scaling rewards behind difficulty if everyone can run everything all the time with no risk? This softcore mentality is confounding. Do you just want endless juice, endless rewards, endless currency, endless xp? That's Last Epoch and Torchlight. |

" You said it yourself bub. You play Harcore. Take your Hardcore mentality and keep it where it belongs. In Hardcore. Nice shine though, wanna tell us how smart you are or perhaps other genetic gifts. Are you tall, handsome. free on Friday ? |

" And that's exactly what they did, no where in their post do I see them calling for deletion of characters that die in softcore. |

+1
as for the casual dad gamer with 3 90+ characters in endgame. . i dont think you know what casual means lol |

" Thats why HC should have even more dmg and more invisible things which can kill you. And bosses should have additional mechanics.. if someone like BDSM its ok..but only if it's in his bedroom not the school. For Softcore I totally agree things should be approached differently.. Same for SSF... |

There are a lot of people who DO want endless juice, endless rewards, endless currency, and endless xp.
That's basically the crux of the issue. Anything that is antithesis to increasing the above will always be viewed negatively by that crowd. They want a brain-off casino experience. There is nothing inherently wrong with that. However, it is also true that the logical conclusion implicit of their stated desires undermines itself. It's like a group of people arguing to change the design and implementation of bowling to the point where you could just blinding throw a ball in any direction and you're gonna knock some pins because they don't want to put in the effort, they don't like getting gutterballs, and they don't like missing splits, etc. They don't really want bowling - they want reward, and to not think about it too hard. Same idea here with their desires in PoE. What they don't understand is that if they got their way, no one would care about bowling anymore, including them. Same thing would happen to PoE. Plus we already have PoE1. Go play that. |

" The problem is ultimately that 0.3.1 perpetuates overjuicing your maps. It begs you to do it. You don't get anything to do on your maps unless you do. Before, people could juice a tower, add mechanics to their maps, and then do safer waystones on all of the other maps. The maps then aren't juiced into oblivion, but have some content to do on them as well. The game literally doesn't let you do that anymore. Last edited by Polantaris#1920 on Oct 2, 2025, 2:15:38 PM

i'm a no lifer who is disabled an homebound -- I ain't got shit else to do other than play. I play more than plenty of streamers.
I hate the one portal system too. As of 3.1 I was quite malded as I started having a very chuggy 10-20 fps during bosses -- only during bosses. Perhaps i'm worse than average with a little fps drops, but I couldn't tell where attacks where going, when attacks were going off, or IF i was safely out of the attack (i wasn't, multiple times). Considering this game always will be unstable (13 years of POE 1 teaches us this), I think it's very shitty to have the 1 portal system. Yeah, most of us are softcore andy's and we like our 6 portal defense, sure -- but part of it is because sometimes there's just bullshit deaths we can't see coming. Once in a blue moon the HH really does port you onto a bomb. Sometimes you die to things that aren't rendered (I occasionally have 100% invisible delirium monsters??? I fought Kosis as invisible just saw his swords... the fuck is that???) If the game ran flawlessly and I didn't have to worry about random issues randomly killing me then that would be different. |
