Please explain this design to me

Was the beach white mod by any chance a Water Hag?
Its basicly impossible to give an opinion on with the information you provided.

Your playing a video game, something in the game killed you. And you think this is bad design? You should just be immortal or?

The game has scaling difficulty, you havent provided any information on what map or mods it was or what your defences are.
It honestly just looks like an exaggeration you made to have something to complain about because you died.

The feedback is between the lines:

"I died and it felt unfair, I am frustrated".

The truth is that when you do anything and fail for reasons you weren't aware of, it always feels unfair. That is the default state of everything.

Having knowledge and experience requirements in a game will always make failures feel unfair to people who lack the knowledge and experience to understand the failure.

Being frustrated because of a death or unsuccessful experience with a character in this game can feel bad, and I don't fault players for feeling bad when it happens.

What I do fault is the mentality that perceives every failure, death, or roadblock to be the fault of design, instead of even attempting to understand and overcome something. It's frankly pathetic.

This game is only satisfying for many people because the progress and player power is a proxy for achievement and success, which it is only able to be because it is challenging content. If it were not challenging, no one would even bother.

So it's a recipe to make people frustrated, and I see a lot of frustrations vented here on the forum, and I understand it. It is even the case that sometimes the design is a contributing factor to a poor experience. However, I will not ever stand for people who's default response to being challenged is to assign external blame and absolve themselves of any responsibility to improve.

That's the difference between the people who are bad at this game and the people who are good - their mentality, not their stash hoard or hours played.
