If you are dying from one shot - your build is bad or glass cannon. If you are slow - you have plenty ways to increase it from boots to many nodes, gems, charms and uniques. Overall seems you are bad at game dying constantly and don't understanding how to increase speed. And no, you don't need to be only deadeye. That only your problem, not developers.

also poe1 doesn't even need gear for campaign, i made a thread a while back about Ruthless. no wonder OP is confuse
I'm not confused, my 6-challenges friend. Of course I had the resistances capped, and I did make it to the end of act 4. It just feels like hard work, not something I would do for fun.
