When can I stop dying to sprint from dodging?
" Honestly, for that to happen u'd have to hold space for the full duration of the dodge roll. If that's the case, then it's not a game issue. If u're only pressing it briefly and it still happens, it's likely a bug/input latency issue of some sorts. I think it's mostly a 'not being used to the new controls yet' issue. It's happened to me a couple of times when I hadn't intended to sprint but held the button a bit too long by accident.
Don't hold the button or try to spam roll too fast and there's no issue. In general, I haven't died once yet to Sprint Stun despite it happening a few times - mostly when I thought an area was clear but the monsters had been missed or respawned because I relogged or something. Which is entirely my own fault for not looking where I'm going and running straight into monsters. There's a small and very achievable learning curve. Which I think is fine. Maybe there's some room for a tweak on exactly when the stun mechanic kicks in, right now it seems to be immediately after the roll ends. Or maybe they could delay the stun mechanic for a very short time like 0.2-0.5s when you first start or something. Last edited by Orion_3T#9801 on Sep 10, 2025, 7:05:20 AM

I have to wonder how people press their buttons. I can tap my dodge and while it executes, I can tap it 4 more times and nothing happens, a 5th time and I start the next roll. I really have to hold it down incredibly long compared to my tap time to go into a sprint. Seems people just need to get used to it, or perhaps there is a bug with it that I'm not experiencing.

" If it's a bug, everyone would experience it. These people are just holding/spamming a key way too hard without realizing it. I've literally never died because of a 'bugged' sprint after dodge. |

To have two mechanics, one of which should not typically be used in combat, tied to a single button which is used frequently in combat is the issue.
We want an option to rebind sprint. If it's not a problem for others, then they don't need to rebind it and will have one less key to press which is a good thing for them. However, if sprint is rebound we could activate it even faster since there's no roll to execute first. That would mean choosing between a one button layout and faster sprint activation. I don't see that being such a bad thing, but of course some folks will disagree. This change isn't just about accessibility. |

" This. Calling it a skill issue doesn't mean its not a game issue. |

" Definitely a skill issue and not a game issue. |

Devs should make it work with two times tapping the button. So dodge won't be affected.

Definitely a game issue.
It's a wonderful capacity implemented the worst way possible, making it absolutely terrible. At this point I'd 100% prefer to be able to disable the sprint rather than fucking up the dodge like that. AND it's bugged. |

I feel like this issue is caused by server side latency. As in if you press your dodgeroll multiple times, the server sees it as one long press because it can't keep up for whatever reason and determine that there were multiple key presses, and thus you fall over in the middle of combat. There are clips of people, long time streamers of poe in general, "tripping" as if they were sprinting in the middle of a dodge roll animation. Go dig, you'll find them. This is such a common complaint at this point it can't be shrugged off as "learn to press keys better."
That being said, I personally am sick of dying to this mechanic. Why they didn't bind this to another key (shift, for instance) or allow you to toggle it as enabled/disabled in the menu is beyond me. They gave us a mechanic that obviously wasn't tested properly and because of that we end up dying and losing time/exp for something out of our control because we can't simply NOT dodge. There's too many 1 shot mechanics in the game to never dodge and avoid the problem completely. So, I believe I'm done until they release a fix for this.
