I'm tired, boss....
I like this game, or at least I like the idea of it, but the repeated mistakes being made with it's development have left me frustrated.
At first I was like "early access, first patch....let them work on it" Then it was "this has way too much POE 1 in it, hpe it doesn't go that way" Now..."this is POE 1 with unnecessary extra steps". Adding another long list of issues that I will not bother repeating.....which leads me into the core issue, for me: the frustration of not being heard. I've read plenty of feedback for like minded individuals, and it always seems to fall on deaf ears. For whatever reason GGG seems to not take into account player feedback, or they only chose from their "pets" (the streamers). At this point I'm conflicted: I want to play the game and enjoy it, but those pesky "issues" prevent me from doing so. I'm also unrealistically hoping (coping hard) that the game will be better, but each time I'm met with the same result.....it's the definition of insanity..... So yeah, ai'm tired, frustrated, and kept wondering if we'll ever get the great game we were so eagerly over-promised. Last bumped on Sep 11, 2025, 11:27:19 PM

I'm in the same situation as you, where I would like to love the game, but I find myself getting angrier and angrier at random oneshots and a stubbornly schizophrenic design that promotes contrasting objectives.
On the one hand I'm asked to play slowly while comboing abilities (generating infusions), and the damage of my skills has been nerfed into oblivion in order to compel me to do exactly that. On the other I'm confronted with endgame content that rewards screenclearing builds and brutally punishes that kind of gameplay that the class design is meant to encourage, wasting the (honestly unhealthy) amount of time I invested in the game. I'll repeat what I said when I reviewed the game a couple of weeks into 0.2: unless the design philosphy of the game is completely revolutionized, I can't see any chance for the game to solve its identity crisis. We can't have a game with methodical and meaningful combo-based combat that is also this dynamic and frantic in its gameplay. No human being can combo skills when the character is surrounded and literally annhilated by a concentric wave of mobs as soon as he opens a Breach. That kind of content requires one-button screenclearing builds and is completely at odds with the redesign of some of the classes. FFS, it should be enough for the devs to look at the extremely skewed statistics on the most played classes in order to realize that they are focusing on the wrong issues and that the game is falling victim to a lack of clear direction. They won't be able to keep both the power-fantasy-interested audience and the methodical-skill-challenge-interested one. They will have to make a choice and, honestly, they owe their Early Access playerbase the clarity that comes with that decision (at the very latest, at launch time). POE went downhill once Chris Wilson left. Jonathan just wants everything to be done his way to suit "the vision".

" People keep mentioning the "vision"....well, there is no "vision", and that's the problem. The game is an inconsistent mess. |

Of course there is a vision - to replicate the success of Dark Souls. Which they clearly can't do because this is the wrong genre

"I am sad because my perfect and amazing ideas about how a video game should be designed were not immediately implemented into this game, woe is me, and everything is awful."
Usually followed by a lineup of people with their own awful takes, finding solace in miserable company. Posts like this are tiring. Last edited by karsey#2995 on Sep 8, 2025, 12:59:12 PM

" While your opinion is valid, the state of the game proves exactly what these posts are saying. POE 2 is an inconsistent game. It starts out with a deliberate idea in mind, only to slowly, but surely shift towards what POE 1 is, but worse. No one idea is good or bad....as long as the final game is consistent in what it wants to achieve. Yes, some ideas may work, others may not.....but for any idea to be able to work you need a plan, and GGG, so far, has nothing. Campaign is one game, with Abyss to remind you that they made POE 1; then there's the endgame which is POE 1 but worse. So what am I, as a player, suppose to think? I get to play 2 games, which I kinda already played already for 13 years, or this is all a mess that no one knows how to fix? Good or bad ideas aside, the frustration of not knowing where this game is going is real. And if it turns out to be POE 1, but with extra steps, I'd rather know now so I stop wasting my time. 13 years of playing the same game seems enough. |

" in 0.1, 0.2 I had a feeling the vision left few years ago, and now they trying to put tings together as best as they can. however 0.3 shows they are trying something different. maybe they will make it work, i hope they do |
