Guys, guys, guys, come here quick - we found the answer!
BAN BOTS AND RMT! Holy shit, why did no one think of this before? Spread the word to the corners of the globe, the MMO genre is saved! Seriously though, every game wants to ban bots and RMT, saying it on a forum is easy, actually doing it is very hard (which is why not a single other game has done it well). |

If you saw some of my posts on forum, I am always saying that would come on handy having a cooldown/time lock on re-posting again for sale...
Or could even have some lock on account gear that are very good (like 4 Tier 1 affixes) This is a feedback forum, so ppl can brainstorm some ideas and get implemented in due time. Also... if it's too hard to ban, maybe I should be RMT next league... Last edited by GatoPreto1718#7829 on Sep 4, 2025, 10:25:56 PM

" Seriously limiting the item and currency farming bots would be a good first step. How? 100% anonymous trade. Remove player to player direct trading completely like Last Epoch has done and then go the next step to have a large pool of item names that get changed from what the seller sees and the buyer sees and the seller is not allowed to see what the new name is. |

" Removing direct trade is interesting, but realistically probably not viable just because of the outsized impact it would have on playing with friends / couch co-op they built into the game. Scrambling names doesn’t seem viable as knowing the exact item type / base you are buying is pretty important for crafting. I think the best and easiest next step they can do to combat this is by restricting gold trading personally, give every item that is traded or transferred a tag of traded = true. With that tag the item now vendors for 0 gold. |

" With the wide array of stats POE has, you could still search the exact stats of an item, you don't need to have its name to pinpoint it on the trade site. And people can invite you to a guild and give you free divines, couse they "know you from irl". Removing RMT is probably not possible in a game like PoE. The one thing that could help in removing bots is some AI that checks the play patterns and marks accounts as possible bots. But then, some people that get in their farm mode are often indistinguishable from bots lol, so even that could create a lot of drama :P And let's not forget we had public figures admitting to RMT without any consequences, so that tells a lot about the topic. So, these are all just blatant self reports, right?
Like, what are you up to on the market that you're seeing all these examples of sniping? Are you perhaps building filters designed to look for high value items listed for low costs, which is sniping? Because that's the only explanation I can think of as to why you would see this happening or care which makes this all come across as pretty disingenuous if you ask me. Like the only way you're finding 42 div items listed for 5 exalts is if you're looking for them. You're basically mad because you were trying to snipe and someone beat you to it. " I agree with you. Bots can't do much if they don't have gold, and once most of the players use the in-game system, probably the issue would be solved. They just need to make items disenchantable and gold gain only from mapping. Selling items for gold should be stopped, and bump the amount of gold you gain from maps. At least this can slow down botters or cause them to do some maps before they attempt anything. Once player to player trade is removed things should get better. |
