Failed, the Frozen Mandible still transforms into a nettle ant :(

It works. I have the Frozen Mandible. Got it this morning (UK).

I tried again and I still get a nettle ant

Its a visual bug with the name and spirit cost. Summon them. If they cast the frost bearer bombs you're good. Mine are called nettle ants too.
I just had a nice close look at the Frozen Mandible behavior and why they feel so clunky after patch. They get stuck inside each other very often. So 2 or 3 Mandibles just stands there unable to move until you are far enough away for them to "reset". GGG please fix this or give all minions phasing.
Game is unplayable for me right now, constantly crashing after 60-90 seconds of play. Never happened before the most recent patches.

Can we get a crossbow fix?
If you move the Whirlwind Slash mouse even a little bit away, you won't be able to release it. This greatly affects the control feel.

This is it, yes. Even just two of them will get stuck inside each other fairly often, or stuck inside rocks etc. The collision change wasn't fixing a bug it was reintroducing a bug that was fixed in 0.2.0.

To those crashing - for me, it was because whenever vram got over 6gigs the game would freeze. It would sometimes recover if I waited a few minutes, sometimes not.

I lowered texture quality to 'medium' and vram usage dropped from 6+ gigs to 3.5, it hasn't happened since.

Re: Frozen Mandibles, they do seem to have been nerfed. Their AI is no longer superior and they now suffer from collision and "sticking" issues where they get stuck inside each other. There are now quite a few doors they simply can't walk through, which doesn't seem intentional, to say the least.

They are also much less aggressive - it feels like they will no longer actively attack anything if it's outside your presence (I'm going to toy with this a bit today to see if increasing presence AoE improves this problem).

That said, they're still one of the best spectres, though why GGG opted to make them stupid and clumsy instead of porting their obviously superior minion mechanics to all other spectres is a bit beyond me. If they gave the old mandible AI to all spectres, it would go a long way towards diversifying the field. There's a lot of spectres that would be viable if they could be convinced to do something other than sit around and paint their toenails.

It certainly feels awkward when my mandibles are sitting around in the middle of a pack of enemies not attacking because I'm slightly too far away.

To me, things like that fall in the category of "quality of life" rather than "balance," (though if presence really does determine their aggressiveness, it becomes "balance" again).
Streamer complains about spectres - 5 min fix from GGG.
Meanwhile a good chunk of players get "map cant be accessed" on derelict mansions, still no fix since release of 0.3.

I havent been able to enter even one of these since release.
But im not a streamer so fk me right.

Yeah, they were changed to have a much shorter leash. If they're more than about half the screen length away from mobs, they'll just stand there until you get closer. If they're more than about half the screen length away from you, they'll try to run back to you even if there's a mob right in front of them or they're surrounded by mobs and can't move, causing them to just stop attacking.

They also had janky collision changes that make them get stuck inside each other, get stuck in hallways, and get stuck in doors, making narrow corridor maps suicide for spectre builds.

This wasn't the case of a streamer complaining about an unannounced change and immediately getting them fixed. This was GGG forgetting to add the removal to the change log, backpedaling in response to minion player feedback, and reimplementing the intentionally removed minion after neutering it by changing its behavior and adding broken collision bugs that were fixed for all spectres in 0.2.0 (after months of complaining).

The PoE2 playbook has been nerfing everything that isn't the build of the month into the ground and claiming it's "bug fixes" when they're not bugs at all.
fix to the 15fps performance fiesta when?
