Looking for fair and honest oppinions on Current state of game

I have been trying to play Acolyte of Chayula Chaos Fireball. My experience has been awful. I thought i would have all the damage in the world with Volatiily and illusion void. You can't use the black hole roll skill unless your attack base build and you cant even weapon swap to it. I kept my fireball current in levels and have 13 projectiles forking passing through ice wall and flame wall with a curse and its not enough damage. Single target is abyssmal. My character is slow and gggs cherry on top I'm making my way through solitary confinement and came across ocean waves slow on top of hefty chills. Like walking through water slows you down like that. I haven't been able to upgrade a staff or find another because it has +3 levels and that beats the other 5 stats combined. Where are the runes, essences, and orbs of alchemy? Rare monsters do not drop rare gear and on an off meta build rare monsters take a bit of time for no reward. I have gotten 2 legendary: both shields i cant use. I haven't been faster than 75% of mobs while sprinting that was a flat out lie. I have spent more gold respeccing then you would use on a 5th roll of the unique chest. Maybe after a week theyll have patched some things and I'm just gonna reroll a meta build because the build diversity in the game is not there. I had like 3 spells to use with black flame node and they do abysmal damage.

Nothing you said is accurate.

You're entitled to your wrong opinions.
Poe1 was for the hardcore of that time
Now poe2 is for the hardcore of today's time. If you don't have a long time to invest just save your money because you will hardly get the full experience unless you know what your doing and have time to invest.
Same old, "Buff" everything during interviews to cause some hype and then nerf afterwards. They see the nerfing as'balancing'.

You still hardly get any loot or currency during the campaign and if you do get a decent one, it usually does not even match or belong to your class.

You still need to grind and invest a lot of your time to play this game.

It's a must to play the game A LOT before you could experience the "fun".

I'm on Abyss league, 0.3 - the one where you drop stuff in the Well of whatever and where you get to pick random 3 mods. Just broke my leveling weapon from 125-215 dmg to 75-120 via Vaal ... ouch. I think I spend a day but definitely less than 48 hours.

it probably build specific.

Also, i have full time job too. I don't spend all day (Sat Sun) on campaign,

rather just using the Standard league summoner to clear Act 4 and Interlude

I think the game has a lot of design issues i am really surprised of it has, given the time GGG had to work on it and its ARPG experience in general.

Its "we want you to do this, but we do not give you the means for it" left and right.

They want you to craft, gamble and rng, but they dont give you the drops for it.

They want you to use your whole arsenal but they don`t let you adapt your playstyle due to the scarcity of skill/support gems and not being able to respec without being bankrupt all the time.

The want you to do boss fights like in Hades but at the same time cripple you with chores like mana shortage, cooldowns, bosses constantly dodging too slow spells etc.

it feels like GGG wants to melt 2 different types of games into one here which are imo too contracdictory in many aspects. One cannot make a gamy game where skill, practice and experience leads to success and on the other have variety system on variety system that creates a huge range of possible character power levels to base balance upon. In the current game design the players are destined to either face roll through or constanly hitting walls, depending on how generous the drop rng is tuned. And apparently, atm they are fine to rather let player hit those walls, making them believe they only need to gitgud, which sometimes even might be true but most often, they are probably just undergeared, misspecced or the encounter is relatively overtuned. I think they put themselves in a situation where its more and more them and their questionable vision of the game VS the players who demand unwanted changes to enjoy it.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, the game, as much great potential it has, is built upon a mindset and zeitgeist that tries (or rather brutforces) to mishmash oppossite polarities into one, believing it would create a new ultimate all inclusive all possible omega state. We all see these anti nature anti common sense attemps utterly failing in the world right now, and unfortunately i believe the same will happen to PoE2. Players will hop on the game for a while, maybe spend some change on stash tabs, realize something is off here, be confused and struggling for a while until they realize its the game itself and then they leave.

0.3 is the best state the game has been in. There are still problems, and things that could and should be looked at, but the game is great at its core and continues to improve.

I'm currently doing t15s at the endgame with an LA Deadeye, these are some of the highlights for me so far on the patch.

Sprinting is a blast, and it takes a bit of skill as well as gives you a bit of risk due to the knock down mechanic. But, if you've found yourself at a dead end where there's no great checkpoint warp, sprinting just *feels* amazing. I actually had a moment where I hit a dead end like that and felt a bit happy at the prospect of backtracking, because it felt like an *open highway*.

Act 4 is amazing, I loved meeting new and old faces and chatting with them on what's going on in the world. The comedic timing of leaving the boat guy when he talks and he just responds with 'oh, okay then' was just peak. The zone design and the new bosses are also just so amazing, and there are honestly zones I kinda hope they just add more side area stuff to so I can spend a bit longer there, the lower level of the prison in particular is just so coooool, I want to learn more about that place.

I had a lot of fun going back to the areas of act 1, 2 and 3 for the interludes. Hearing what had happened since I was last there gave me a sense of a 'living world', a quality that poe typically has failed to instill in me. The areas do however lack the same level of polish as acts, but I'd much rather do these interludes than cruel, and some of the bosses are real challenges, and that's a blast to test my build up against before maps and endgame.

Crafting is significantly improved, I think this is the first patch where I feel like I have a realistic path to crafting the items I actually want to use! Between the perfect orbs, the omens, the essences and the abyss bones, there's so many ways to get good results now, and with excellent bases you have a good reason to stick to one base rather than just grabbing 50 bases and just yolo-ing them (though that option is significantly cheaper).

The new map layouts in endgame are great, though I can't say I've done them all yet as it's still early days in the league. They're mostly flat, open & spacious and several of them are linear with a clear sense of direction, good stuff!

Abyss is so much fun, although very tough, but getting maps where mobs are packed wall-to-wall and just deleting them feels like popping bubble wrap, it's addicting and satisfying. Jumping into abysses gives me a sense of adventure that really spice up otherwise pretty boring maps.

That said, there are a bunch of negative aspects with the patch too, though the primary ones (like some of the skills just doing zdps) should be addressed shortly in patches I think and hope.
