POE 2 Feels Unfriendly to New Players
Just another season where if you're not playing one version of one build you're literally playing the game on a difficulty setting you will NEVER keep up with or overcome.
Absolute dogshit balancing, skill choice is literally an illusion, defenses are an illusion (just one-shot everything 3 screens away what do you need defenses for?). Economy? Don't get me started. Crafting? Lol. Pretty sure they've got the same balancing team as D4. DE overpowered two seasons in a row, GGG: Let's buff DE again. You wanna run high power, difficult content? Go right ahead, just expect to get one-shot by ranged mobs through 12K ES. Solution? One-shot everything off screen 4hed. Old. Boring. Stupid. |

Welcome to Path of Exile. It is hard. Learn to make currency (Divines mostly) and you'll be good.
Also, check youtube for trusted streamers. |

" So what part of this is newcomer friendly? I get it, I'm bad at video games, but how does making the campaign painful affect end game difficulty? I'll never make it to end game in poe1 but at least I can enjoy playing the campaign in every league, that seems more newcomer friendly than getting hardstuck at draven, sekhema's trials, the quadrilla, or the molten vault. Figure it out. That's what we all do.
I gave you hints, what you need more? Straight cash? Also, THERE IS AN F**KTON OF PEOPLE SEARCHING PARTIES TO GATHER AROUND BAD BOSS. If you want someone to make you a build, give you all the stuff and show how to play.... Whooo boy. Also, chek those streamers. |

" so to be clear, in regards to this thread, other than the public parties(which is how i got past those points), none of what you said is actually part of the game, those are outside resources. which brings it back to the point, if one of the goals of poe2 was to make a more newcomer friendly game, they are failing. Just saying "figure it out" and "watch streamers" doesnt actually work for making a game newcomer friendly. |

They don't want a newcomer-friendly game. They want a Dark Souls game where if you play it you are a real man and the complainers get laughed out of the community. Unfortunately, they misjudged their audience

Guys, this isnt about making the whole game easier. It's about making the start a little bit easier. I also have friends who were interested in the game, but when they tried it out on my account (each made a new character), they said, it's too hard for them in the beginning and it was more frustration then fun for them. And usually that's because they dont understand the mechanics or how important certain stats like res are. The game doesnt teach you much and it also doesnt give you much, leaving you completely at the mercy of RNG.
I know this is early access and there may be changes to that coming, but I just want to point this out now. Last edited by AceNightfire#0980 on Sep 11, 2025, 3:10:46 AM

" I don't get why games must be easy from the start. We are piece of shit who barely ecaped death and were washed away from a river exhausted and weak. It makes alot of sense that even pack of wolves can kill us. This creates a sense of danger waiting on every step and persolnally i love it. That's why I love old Gothic games or From soft games, even old Diablo 2 was quite like that. It may be discouraging for casual player but casual players have no place here anyway. Uh, bringing realism into Path of Exile has always been so cringe to me

" What complete and utter garbage. Just because you can't make your build work, doesn't mean there's only one "viable" build. |
