Only after getting Blasphemy with Temporal Chains and AoE+Unleash for Contagion the build starts to make sense. The ceiling for that is too high because that was near 15 hours into the league for me. I believe you're also kinda f***** in terms of enjoyment if you find no wand with extra levels early on. Same if you find no upgrade for the plus levels wand later in the campaign.

Just quit playing ED + Contagion because it made the game too easy (SSF).
My experience is the complete polar opposite.

Sprint - > ED when a mob pack is on screen - > kite backwards moving while casting while they melt in 1-2 seconds - > sprint - > repeat.

Use Unearth early game before you get ED, and can keep using it until Act2ish for free meat shields.
