In case you missed it - Witchhunter update
" ok i need someone else to test it because it's driving me crazy. Shockwave totem: Any martial weapon - Placed totem with dual wield maces and +10 melee levels. After swapping to Last Lament the skill tooltip shows 10 missing levels (no active maces) but the same dps on the tooltip. Artillery ballista : Crossbow - Placed totem with an active crossbow with +6 levels then swap to maces, the tooltip shows 6 missing levels as well as dps on the tooltip. whats going on :D |

Is totem snapshotting even working?
Can you snapshot sorcery ward with a high armour and shield weapon swap? |

" Does this work this sorcery ward too? |

" Well, that's your mistake for trying to use the extra set points for free totems. An ability like Weapon Master isn't supposed to be giving you what amounts to extra passives by placing fire-and-forget things like totems, then only actually fighting with the one weapon set. An ability like Weapon Master is supposed to get you to actually fight using different weapons across multiple sets. It's not for having "my weapon, and my thing placer I don't actually use", it's for having "my multiple distinct weapons, all of which I actively use in combat". I have a Weapon Master Witchunter from back before the Hunt update. At which point we of course had less weapon types available than have been added now. Weapons literally not existing is certainly an obvious limiter for our options. I used a crossbow in one set, and dual wielded maces in the other. One set grabbed clusters for two handing, ranged, projectiles... The other set grabbed clusters for dual wielding, one handed, melee... I didn't use fire-and-forget skills like totems. I hade a skill loadout for active fighting with multiple weapons. That rapidly shooting armor breaking skill on crossbow with chain support, boneshatter from the maces, etc. When possible, once the weapons have been added to the game, I'd like to run a Weaponmaster who uses 4 different weapons. 2 dual wielding sets with 4 different types of one handed weapon. I still won't be using totems. And now that we'll have way more set points, I'm definitely returning to these builds. Also, I just have to throw it out there, if your goal is to use Totems, you don't play Witchhunter at all, let alone Weapon Master. Tactician is the totem ascendency for Merc. |

All Totem build-guides say that totems snapshot... so this should work. The additional weapon swap points are still questionable, because in this example the totems are usually good enough to kill everything and the second attack becomes just a gimmick.
Also, in a way, the weapon swap points do not give you increased power - and you have to sacrifice 2 of your ascendancy points for this. Maybe with the lowered attribute requirements some better options and synergies become available. Some streamers/youtuber have talked about weapon swapping and how it could be potentially strong on Witchhunter... in the end we have not seen such a build so far. " The issue with totems losing stats exists on tactician too, and gemling and maybe any other ascendancy WITHOUT the need to assign weapon sets points, it's a weapon swap issue. No weapon set points assigned, place ballista and check its stats, then use mace or whatever you want and check its stats again, ballista still in the field without the xbow's stats (+levels and dps gone) i used to place it. And this will persist on 0.3 too, it will be even worse maybe because their weapon will be our weapon, since it requires a crossbow to be placed what happens if i swap to bow for example? Will it disappear or do nothing (xbow required) or grab stats from the wrong weapon required to place it? And to me this is an issue because it should keep the stats of the min maxed xbow you used to place it, this way even a lvl 1 crossbow is good for weapon swap and it doesnt make sense TO ME. Thank you for those words of wisdom anyway, i'll keep that in mind. Last edited by IILU81II#8410 on Aug 28, 2025, 10:38:19 PM

" In such a case, if the ballistas are capable of handling things on their own, couldn't the second tree just be pure defence? Armour, evasion, deflect, +res, block, regen, etc. Just nothing but layers. That's assuming the snapshotting works, of course. |

pal talked on stream about how on like the chinese PBE or smth they had some other witchhunter changes aswell to like the zealous inquisition etc. if that would have made it live for 0.3 id probably start witchhunter but for now the weaponset buffs are good but other then that the ascendency sadly isnt compelling enough for me atm

" tbh several ascendencies are mostly irrelevant and are effectively not stronger than 2points in PT would be. |

So me being slow. I need to ask a theory question.
Can we, in theory, do maxed-out as possible minions, then switch to, say, a bow, shoot a maxed-out or close-to-maxed-out GS arrow, and have an arsonist detonate it? |
