I am not excited for the August league - And here's why.
" Over half a year's worth of GGG promises of Balance tuning is where we're at right now. But this time, they mean it! |

" Well that's unnecessarily pessimistic. The game's been out just over half a year and has had two balance patches already - Are you suggesting there be a team of dedicated developers pumping out balance updates on a weekly basis or something? You're acting like this game doesn't receive attention and it's just not true. What "half a year's worth of balance tuning promises" are you referring to that haven't been implemented? |

It's being honest. My suggestion is that past behavior is the best evidence available for predicting future behavior.
An entire third of the tree is given an impotent defensive layer while its opposite branch has been left to run rampant for months. Chaos Inoculation in particular is out of control. It would honestly be better for it to be disabled at this point instead of GGG attempting to 'fix' it by granting it another ailment immunity complete with supplemental passives that don't even require investing in a single travel node. If any ascendancy approaches less than 1% usage, that's a clear red flag that the design is flawed. But hey nevermind that, look the new spinoff league just launched! Oh . . . the embarrassing new Volatility mechanic did nothing to improve the situation? Too bad GGG only does balance adjustments at the start of a new league instead of taking a dynamic, league-agnostic approach. Better luck 5 months from now! |

I think the more troubling part is they wont be able to balance the game properly due to people getting used to OP shit for such long periods of time. EA should have no leagues and have very often and sometimes drastic patches. They already made the decision against mid-league nerfs due to 'community backlash'. I think they lost control over their own game here.

" I think that was a planned lie. People got mad because respecs were prohibitively expensive during their first wave of nerfs. They later lowered the cost but now they have a throwaway talking point for whenever the topic of balance comes up. |

" ah, so you saying they put up this show so they can return to their comfort zone of post 1.0 PoE1 type balance schedules? that's clever. good call |

" 1 1 balance patch. It was 0.2 and it's possible the game will not recover from it. 0.2 was so incredibly bad that I would bet that from the varied articles, videos, and word of mouth not only hurt PoE2 but PoE1 to some extent. Branding took a major hit. From hexblast to the over tagging of skills hurt. Fire spell builds can't use herald of ash because it requires a martial weapon? Why? It's just overkill. Look at the condition of the Acolyte. Why on earth was a new class released while acolyte is in it's current condition? Why nerf pillar when LS outclasses it by a magnitude? If you really want to craft a good game then things need to change and not wait until late Aug to do it. IMO the game should still be in closed beta. No more advertising or marketing this as if it were a live release. XP loss during EA should be disabled. A combat log needs to be implemented first. If player doesn't know what killed them then punishing them for it isn't fair. All respecs need to be free during EA. Wanna know what breaks your game? This is how. Immediately get rid of the trade system as it is now. The game is balanced around it and its pure jank that rewards the wrong thing. There are so many things that need to change before getting excited about any patch. But I would say the most important thing is to show you're interested in making a great game instead of hiding behind EA while also milking it. " +1. Do not understand why GGG so focused on major patches instead of delivering minor patches every 2-3 weeks as it works for other EA games. Like it even could be patches like "we've increased chance to drop unique from Xsesht by 50% for one week to grab statistic" or "Ambush is guaranteed on every map" it could be really anything fun since we already have a dead league with broken economy. We haven't Roadmaps, we haven't Common test, PTR, Test groups, Closed test we could join, we haven't nothing expect one message and one patch in 3-4 months :). I would understand such approach if game was already released, but it's not. It's not also normal that they have only 2 guys in Balance team (which they mentioned) who actually could works on balancing patches. I'm feeling really bad for this guys, because imagine being that dudes everyone relly on and who should work on POE1 and POE2 simultaniously to balance non stop and for each nerf got swears. Are GGG haven't enough money for 1+ sold mil coppies they were bragging to hire new guys in balance team? If it takes too much time to hire+onboard why no one predicted such a problems before 0.1 launch? |

" Yeah i think the lack of skill, boss, and item balancing is really a big point of frustration for me. And orbital nuking things with nerfs doesn't count as balancing in my book. Last edited by DankWeebTrash#7386 on Jul 16, 2025, 1:17:55 AM

played 0.1, skip 0.2, gonna play 0.3 etc.
I'm bit of losing hope for this game to become next gen of genre, but i'm gonna enjoy all 6 acts at release at least. Hope it gonna be more darksouls/d2 rather than another poe1/vampire-survivors |
