Anyone else just kinda hate the whole mercenaries mechanic?

The only things I dislike about them is that:

I get punished if I check their skills/items and don't want to fight them because they don't have the skills I want or items I care to fight over.

I have to fight them or else my chances of meeting up with more powerful mercs diminishes.

I don't like that I can accidentally dismiss them instead of put them on reserve and lose an entire loadout of uniques. Thankfully they were all 2-5c/ea so it wasn't a huge loss, but still bothersome. Would have been nice if I got a dialogue "you're about to dismiss your current merc, would you like to remove the gear you added to their inventory?" or something like that.

Otherwise I like the mechanic well enough.

I actually like the Merc mechanic.
And I really prefer going through their stuff.. especially since I read the Merc statistics.. :)

Oh man, I did this just last night while too tired to properly read the popup. Map was too rippy so wanted to send merc to hideout to reduce enemy hp, finished map to find his spot empty. Entirely my fault but was a bummer.

I would blame the poor wording honestly, "dismiss" is by no means what you would think when it comes to permanently deleting a merc. Abandon perhaps, or something similar. "dismiss" is exactly what telling them to chill at your hideout should be.

When I did it, it was because I did some 5-ways and the leader told us "dismiss your mercs" so I just clicked the "dismiss" button without a thought.

Forgot that to keep them you had to click "reserve".

Honestly it's just kind of annoying that in reality all they are really there for is to PL alts, and aura/cull-rarity bots.

They have zero interaction with the atlas tree, and it takes so long to look through their gear every map for maybe a div or two every 100 maps that you just stop interacting with them.

I'm also not sold on the memory thread stuff either, or the 16.5s. Nerfed T17's aren't even that hard for even basic builds, and now that they nerfed the 16.5's you might as well just run 16's or go to 17's. They also seem pretty scarce in general. I think I find more t17s lol.

I've yet to see a base drop I'd even bother rolling on with the memory thread stuff as well. I'd rather just grab a fracture off the trade site and get to work lol.

It's not so much that the league is "bad" it's just so... non-interactive as to not even notice it exists.

Mercs are fire and forget and the 3 limit sucks for alts, and the rest can just kinda be ignored.

Best thing in the whole league is how OP the Global Defense rune is lol. Think is good for every non attribute stacker.

Yeah. And, well, I was not so lucky. Accidentally dismissed my Merc because I was trying a new build and she was getting in the way. Lost a couple Divines worth of items and a GG Flamehand to boot. Haven't found such a good one since.

IMO they should change it so that we can only dismiss them from town/hideout and only by typing DELETE, same as they do with player characters.

My Merc with Doryani's Prototype look so good. He can buff all damage of my mage skeletons and make minions erase everthing of screen.

I think Mercs rock, its so much fun to try them out, see how each one works and then grab the one you synergize with.

I just wish they has a "passive tree", not something stupid but maybe 10 - 20 options that you get to apply as they progress that makes them totally harmonize with your build, just my 5c...

Would also be nice (especially in SSF) if they leveled up with you and you had one Merc per character. Having 3 per account is crazy and really restrictive.

You could grab the one Merc you like and have like a friend / partner for the whole time youre playing that toon. It would make people really invest in the mechanic and be connected to them, rather than a throw away "resource".
