huge issue with unidentified gear vs crafted gear

anyone can explain to me why we still drop those unidentified rares?
it would be much cooler just like in Last Epoch if the gear would drop identified and we would just sort out things we dont want
instead we have this ancient mechanic of identifying gear. i mean in diablo2 we "sometimes" had good stuff on the floor
but in poe i could grind for 48 hour straight and i wouldnt find a gear piece that either fits my build or is worth trading.

crafted gear on the other hand requires lots of steps and is really rng heavy
i literally had recorded a video last league how it took me 2 hours to get a t1 flat phys or hybrid phys mod on my axe, this is really annoying. i also dont get why you implemented crafting mechanics that are literally locked away from normal mortal beings like myself, hinekoras, mirror tier crafting and all this.
how is someone like me who plays like 5 hours+ per day to achieve such things?

also please dont reduce this thread to "mimimi stop whining" there is literally 2 points to argue about and no one needs a flame war

They've done a lot to improve drop loot. When I kill the bosses of a map, I fill my inventory with gloves, boots and jewelry. Most runs I find something that will at least sell for 30c. 1 div is not uncommon for 30%+ boots.

They've done a lot to improve loot in T-16+ content. Scoop some up every now and then, you might be surprised.

hmm i usually filter out the rare items and almost all of my upgrades this league i got from mercs i didnt tried the t16+ rares tho but i seen there are some of those new items with crafting potential on, but also never got something worth selling or something for my build

To be honest I have noticed some surprisingly good rolls on yellow drops with exclusive mods, like influenced gear, Incursion mod related stuff or memory strand items being good from the get go.

Maybe it's just luck, but even if ggg did go and improve your odds for good modifiers on floor trash across the board, I would probably still not bother picking it up. Maybe I'd do it for the first few days of a league though.

I actually did sell a bunch of floor items for 50c to a couple div this league, truth be told

probably you were quite lucky, for me like 99% of the loot i picked up and identified was trash, only upgrades i got were from mercs.
i also listened to the chris wilson and david brevik talk about how runewords rather ruined the item hunt in diablo2 and poe1 just copied this so we're just left with craft of exile and crafting gear game

1) About making items identified
Fully agree. It's 2025, why we still have such outdated mechanic from D2, that released 25 years ago? It improves user experience, but more importantly if it allows us to adjust loot filter, to only show items with specific mods/tiers.

Some people above write, that they sell some staff from the ground. I also make several dozens chaos orbs from random lucky scour + alch memory strand items and some influenced gear. But ended up with just hide all magic/rare equipment completly. It's not worth time to check every item. But that's a deviation from discussion. Anyway UnIdentified items is obsolete thing!

2) About improving crafting. I think it's ok already. Yes, i wanted to improve odds of many things. But you can craft decent gear with simple fracture + essence/fossil/harvest spam.

Just because a system is "old" doesn't make it "bad." In fact, it's a draw for many people.

Path of Exile essentially is, "Diablo III for people who loved Diablo II."

The gear off the ground is a lot better than it used to be. I hunt and pick for high bases, (my cashflow comes from flipping and antiques, not speed running content). And in the last 3 cycles, they have very noticeably improved the quality of ground loot.

High life, ES, resists and base stats are much higher and more consistent than they used to be. Gap filling gear. While you won't find "mirror-tier" loot - you can very easily pick up the stuff you use to cover resists and other stats. 1-10 div items are not terribly rare. Pick up the top tier boots, and desirable jewelry pieces every map. You will find good pieces. Several per night.

Ok, i got your point. You are taking items from ground and make money from it. But the point of this topic is UNIDENTIFIED items! not picking or not them from ground. Do you really enjoy clicking 100500 times on "scroll of identifiction" and then on items? Isn't it better if you free yourself from this "fun" activity?

You think you want this, but you haven't actually thought through what this change would look like. You do not want this.

Not allowing players to filter out all rare items which don't have specific mods is the entire point of items dropping unidentified. You are assuming that GGG would change the identify system and leave everything else as is, which is ludicrous; the rarity of high-tier affixes was balanced around items dropping unidentified. If they make it possible to filter out everything except T1 mods, you will never get T1 mods, but now you're also not picking up the kind of 10-50c rares which drive the progression of trade league characters as they first break into red maps.

Dropping items unidentified is what feeds a steady supply of mid-level rares into the economy, which keeps them cheap enough for players outside of the top 1% to afford. It's pretty basic economics. If you aren't a top echelon player making/buying multiple mirror rares per league, the current system is to your benefit.

Sure buddy. It's because it's cheap. Servers don't have to generate every item, they just generate when you ID them(GGG said that, not me). It's all at the end money.
