The whole Idea of aquiring Mercs is completely backwards

I do agree that if you hire the merc you shouldn't have to fight them.

And the one you have currently, show it some love and gear it up if it dosent already have ok gear.

If you know a place that has a merc spawn near a wp or the area entrence you can also keep resetting and farm a lesser version of the one you want by exiling the once you dont want.

If the problem is some mercs are just to aggro after you, get a merc that is also aggro and has taunt :)



Or just have the map up so you see the enemy mercs icon and keep running / blinking / leap / charge away. Just never stand still, as much as you can, run!

Mercs are way overtuned for the average player. To compensate, I think your suggestion to not fight them if you hire is a good one.

They also need a significant reduction in one shot ability.

I think a good balance would be to increase the cost when hiring, but you would get no rewards (you don't get that already anyway), and no fight. Or you could fight them for loot. Exiling them should also just mean gold lost or fighting them for no gold loss. Why do I have to fight every Merc, it's a little silly. It's literally all downsides.

My current strat is to drop my totems and hide. The Mercs are just too rippy.

And something minor that kinda irks me: Every Merc just talks shit. Not a single one that isn't an asshole before and after the fight. Not including the gibberish talking one. Just me or does that annoy anyone else, lol.
