Secrets of the Atlas Frequently Asked Questions

How do mercenaries interact with instance resets? Can we "fish" for new mercenaries by loading new instances of a zone?
Can you please consider reverting the returning projectiles nerf on splitting steel to something closer to what Frost Blades got? Its such a fun skill and unclear why it got hit harder than something like Lightning Strike. Surely there was a more clever way to adjust it rather than what was done.
Really didn't answer the most important question, Will I be able to date my mercenaries?
How often do we have to pay the mercenaries?

It makes sense that Mercs don't get skills from Sockets on gear, but what about skills from lines on gear like Harby Uniques or Focus?

Mercenaries need to be within 70% of level requirements of an item to equip it.

Why? Can anyone theorize why they made it this way. Also does this work both ways. Like a level 80 Merc can't wear a level 50 item?? I'm very confused by this.

The notes stated that all recipes from unveiling are now found in maps instead, but can it be confirmed that this includes the special crafts such as Catarina/flasks? Or are they gone?
Usually I very much prefer league mechanics to be account wide, but for this one it would be better if it was character bound. What if I make 5 very different characters in the league, needing different auras or specific uniques on mercs, and we can recruit just 3 of them?

Does a Runebind count as a "different" mastery for the purpose of skills like Trickster's Polymath, or do they count as the same mastery, for the purpose of things like the life mastery that grants 10% more life if you have 6 life masteries?
Yes, although all Runegrafts count as the same type of Mastery. They do not count as Life masteries.

Can you explain this a little better? I'm not completely sure I understand what you're saying here.

If you put 6 runebind on your tree, it counts as 6x mastery allocation. But they are not life masteries, so you cannot use 1 life mastery (ex: 50+ maximum life) with 5 runebind. It wont count as 6 life masteries.
