Warning for "Cheating" & I Don't Know Why
I use:
- ReShade - DLSS Swapper - Optiscaler I was always using ReShade before, so that seems the least likely to be the issue. Today I installed Optiscaler & used DLSS Swapper to update the files I'll be using with that, went to log in, and I got a message basically saying "STOP CHEATING, ONLY WARNING, NEXT TIME YOUR ACCOUNT IS BANNED". This is infuriating to see, I can't even send in a ticket since I wiped the whole game out of caution and have to redownload all 83.6GB before I can get a code to send in a ticket! So which is it they're banning for, and why in god's name are these things not whitelisted? Last bumped on May 19, 2025, 3:14:15 PM

" All three? I’m not sure if you’re familiar with how ReShade functions on a technical level, but, 1) it is an injector that modifies how the game client operates, and, 2) it is capable of removing effects designed by GGG to limit or otherwise alter visibility. It’s not permitted - and it never will be. DLSS Swapper replaces the game client’s files. GGG’s ToU very clearly says not to do this… I’m not familiar with the third, so I googled it. Let’s look at its GitHub page; ![]() It does seem that on a very rudimentary level you don’t quite get it. You’ve not said whether you’re posting about PoE 1 or PoE 2, but GGG are exclusively in the business of operating live service online games with competitive aspects such as races and ladders. They don’t want you messing with the client. No mods are permitted, and that isn’t new. https://www.pathofexile.com/legal/terms-of-use-and-privacy-policy "VPs are not required to change their posting style. " Hi! Could you please contact us at support@grindinggear.com and we'll be able to provide you with some additional information. |

" I did, and surprisingly I got a response, the response answered literally nothing. Not a single question, or concern, it just said don't mod anything and macros are also banned. Was that just a bot response? |

" Great to hear that Support gave you the information you needed! Cheers for posting an update. 👍 "VPs are not required to change their posting style. " No, it seems you don't get it. These 3 programs are used even in competitive shooters without anyone getting banned, so long as ReShade doesn't have an add-on to map-hack. This is not a competitive game, updating the upscaling in the game by swapping a dll file is hardly a "mod", and your scare-mongering and insults are less than worthless. Every game ever has a warning of "no mods" but I've never seen one actually ban users for essentially updating the game when devs won't. " This is a game where players compete against each other for prizes including 1) complimentary MTX, 2) the opportunity to design a unique item, and, 3) tickets to attend GGG's real-world ExileCon event. It is a competitive game irrespective of whether you choose to acknowledge such. " Well. Now you have. " " I thought I was the one insulting people (despite having objectively not done so) ? Disagreeing with you does not a troll make. Think of me what you will, but FWIW I would encourage you to reconsider your decision to re-download the game. It seems more than a little dubious that you're willing to just play the game as it is designed by GGG instead of persisting with attempting to modify it while both the game developer and the creators of the mod tools tell you not to. I would also make the point that you have purchased at least one supporter pack for the game, and that when an account is banned, all purchases on it are strictly non-refundable. " As an aside, this forum software does show the time & date a post was last edited. Yours hasn't been. There's a trend here of the facts not supporting your claims... " So in other words you're just trolling and throwing insults. The forum doesn't show an edit, yeah, and? I threw that in as I was posting it as I delayed it and got a response first. Was that supposed to be a gotcha?[Removed by Support] Last edited by Ayelen_GGG#0000 on May 18, 2025, 10:16:33 PM

" GGG's long standing policy is nothing that modifies game files or the the game itself running in memory is allowed. Regardless of if they should spend the effort to differentiate between non-abusive mods and abusive ones; it appears that they haven't done so and don't appear to have any plans to do so in the near future. They would need to do more than just name checking because if that's all the do all the cheats will just claim to be something innocuous. (Close to a decade ago - pre loot filters - their first attempt to ban a cheat apparently failed due to something similarly naïve.) (And until POE2 is released and POE1 back to regular league launches; they probably shouldn't put major engineering resources on anything that would only benefit a small fraction of the player base.) Edit: GGG You should change the message to explicitly say that any modification of the game is forbidden. Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? Injector-type of hacks are not safe to allow, it open the door to other hacks including map hacks and other hacks that can give a player advantage. GGG are nice enough to give you a warning instead of banning you right away.
