I've been playing Acolyte of Chayula and having a blast! Here are my thoughts on its mechanics and balance.
Darkness - Early game, this path provides solid defense, but its scaling falls short in the late game. The sacrifice of spirit doesn’t compare well to the benefits of extra defensive or offensive buffs from spirit gems. - The extra chaos bonus isn’t active frequently enough to feel impactful. - Suggested changes: - Increase the base duration of the reservation to 5 seconds, reducing to 2.5 seconds later. - Raise the bonus to darkness from 10% to 15%. - Adjust bonus chaos damage to be half value for reserved darkness. - Alternatively, instead of removing spirit entirely, limit spirit to 100. Into the Void - Collecting remnants mid-combat feels disruptive rather than rewarding. - Even with support gems that improve pickup speed, remnants—especially health and mana—don’t feel impactful. - Health is either full or empty; if it’s not full, players will use a potion rather than wait for a heal-over-time effect. - Mana is generally not an issue. - The quality modifier that increases spawn speed is unclear—I couldn’t figure out how to activate it with a prism. - Suggested change: - Limit remnant spawns to purple flames to improve usability. - As it stands, four points feels like too much of an investment for this mechanic. Gift - This mechanic is well-balanced and enjoyable—no changes needed. Mana Drain - The leech effect is powerful and satisfying in most situations, but its interaction with energy shield recharge feels unintuitive. - Issue: Effects that interrupt energy shield recharge also stop regeneration from the leech effect. - This shouldn’t happen—damage should apply normally, but recharge should continue. - Damage-over-time effects should reduce leech regeneration proportionally rather than stopping it entirely. - Example: If standing in fire while leeching more than the fire’s damage, the shield should still recharge, albeit at a reduced rate. - Shield regeneration should not require active mana leeching. - If mana is full, leech should continue to apply to the shield. - Build limitations: Currently, forcing mana drain through high melee ranks is viable but counterintuitive. - Suggested changes: - The second minor node should grant 7% mana leech on all hits, ensuring activation without requiring mana-leeching gear. - Alternatively, introduce a base leech amount of 10–15%, with the stipulation that "cannot receive additional mana leech from gear" to maintain balance. |

Not surprising at all.
Bear in mind too, that most of Smith builds were people trying it out. Tactician died SO HARD. Who the heck is going to go tactician for 20% Area and crap damage bonus. Titan and get +50% Presence Area and +10% Magnitude from small node bonus and +15% health for the 1% of your life regen aura. Titantician destroys tactician with its breath alone. Still better than the gems though. Wasting time on additions and modifications trying to compensate for lack of ability or knowledge is one of the biggest and known tells for inability to manage or run a department or business. How much time and effort has been wasted on adding unnecessary complications and fluff instead of just getting out content with what is already there or working? Most of the new potential playerbase was blunted and blocked by implementing a payed early access(When EA alreayd has so much stimgma right now), instead of properly updating mtx and doing sales. Half of the rest were lost, even after paying, from time wasted screwing over and over-engineering a bunch of the content, instead of just getting the content out and adding or amending later after feedback and getting the base solid. Typically egotistical behaviour. So busy fixing things that aren't broke, trying to look busy and put their name on eveything, instead of contributing or making it easy. There are people who have already looked at and thought of buying MTX in PoE1 for PoE2. SO much missed potential by bad leadership. What kind of incentive is there to sponsor PoE2 when most of the MTX is still in PoE1 with no progress or guarantee for transfer? When the skills that have MTX either don't exist yet or are full of bloat and unnecessary compulsive gambling mechanics that are such a huge turn off? Just look at firestorm in PoE2. When I played PoE1, I made a cyclone firestorm burn character that was alot of fun. I ended up buying an alternate mtx for it. Then after a while I slightly nerfed the characters dps so that I could have separate triggers of firestorm, and then bought all rest of the mtx of firestorm so that I could make different mashes/colour combinations of it, with that and similar builds. Different game? 50% of content is copied and pasted from Poe1 so a pretty lame arguement. So much is supposed to be different, but is all the same except the storyline(kinda, but not so much) and the super limitationed and over-engineered gem and item modifications (Not new, not added. Modified.) Is firestorm good in PoE2. Nope. Fun to play. Nope. Does Poe2 make me want to buy mtx for my builds. Nope. Has someone at GGG screwed up. Yes. Most definitely. Just enough character building to play, but nothing else, so that when people reach a point of completing their build, most stop playing. Where is the MTX to fund the game? Where is the chase uniques? Why have items been screwed and made NOT build defining? Why has the market, and a lack of its control measures not been looked at, when it is one of the biggest reasons for needing seasons and lack of value on loot and could make the biggest difference outside of Microtransactions and not wasting time screwing up gems? GGG finally got it right with PoE1, then said "Job Done", dropped PoE1 and then reverted back to being a Beta mess. It looks like a replay of PoE1. 5-7 years before it will be good? Masonism or Mammon/Baal worship is the fastest growing religion on the planet. (Young flesh and money is popular) The religion wants to move from national dichotomist leadership to global dichotomy by 2028 (Advertising 2030 - sideeye). So... get some real leadership/management. I'd like to play a complete PoE2 before the world is 'reborn'/ends. Otherwise its just one of a million games wasted by poor management and ego. " I suspect there is no vision for the game. Also, they're asking the wrong people for opinions: the minority that keeps playing the game. This creates a negative feedback loop, driving the rest away. They should ask the ones who stopped playing it for improvements. |

The problem is the endgame focus of GGG.
Starting a new character should be the fun part. And that requires build diversity. Vast majority of the players do not care about the end game. |

" 1) They killed build diversity. 2) No endgame, we've all seen this boring shit in december, nothing new. Simply nothing to do in this game. Don't even know what was the point to roll out 0.2 and pretend like its something big or new. Dawn of the Hunt, what was that supposed to mean? I don't even want to try something different than LS because its all dumpster in comparison, thanks to all the nerfs and zero buffs from jonny boi. And even if i try something new to me, what do i do in this game? Ritual and breach again? Hell no, thanks. No login until 0.3 to see if they learned something. No build diversity.
No AH. XP loss + about 4-5 other stacked up death punishments. No balance on mobs. No crafting. unique are trash. And worst, you don't play the game to find gear, you play it to go buy your gear but they refuse to make that process even possible on console. The Dawn of the Vision needs glasses. Console loot filter for POE2 Please!

Said everything. The AH is a must.
