What was the point of Poe2?

I like the idea of another wraeclast that is "slower paced" but what does that mean? slower hands are doing fine? no. it means that battles are more tactical, and even strategic. Dont just find the angle you need and open fire standing ground until you get closed with then move and repeat. Many of us are older gamers D2 guys. I would like to see the tactical maneuver potential of hellgate londons evoker. the way evoker worked best was with a variety of attacks that all had independant cooldowns. there were long ranged less accurate broad hitbox first salvo at range attacks, then as range reduced you could use a penetrating long range micro hitbox attack (target the guy and the guy behind him gets hit) moving into a midrange wide fan attack and terminating in a close range 360 degree shpere attack that stunned. allowing time to continue retreat. the clever gamers would use specific attacks based on range, area of operation, and attacker relative position. if they are in front of you midrange and standing in a line..... fan attack. long range clustered? long range cluster attack. if you are in a hallway, long range piercing attack. if you are getting surrounded on a few sides? close range stunning shpere attach (360 degrees, a nova.... in hellgate the nova was 3d) use the right tool in the right place at the right time, and be accurate and dont miss, and your skill will clear the mobs. I absolutely adored hellgate london.... written by blizzard north..... WHOEVER THEY WERE ???? it did ultimately fail marketwise.... but I followed the game to korea. I bought an account from hanbitsoft and played till it was dead and no one was around. no one was trading. I'm not insane. there was a lot of good in hellgates evoker. (the other classes sorta sucked. I'm not advocating for them) I think poe2 should look deeply into the style of combat I ascribed to the evoker and hopefully allow most or all classes to be capable of dynamic situational tactical combat. less stand and deliver, and more knowing what and when to throw at whichever group of enemies will suffer the most from it here and now. after that attack things change. things always change. allow many options to deal with how situations change. dynamic. I want a harder game. but one that I can master. allow mastery. |

" Phasmophobia is in EA five years after its launch, and it has long since earned its place as a full game. Iirc GGG gave a six months to a year period for PoE2 EA, but in a few days it's been five months and in my opinion the game isn't drastically closer to launch condition than what it was back in December. |

" Eh, I don't buy either half of that equation tbqh. GGG are unreliable, sure - but they are reliably unreliable - oxymoron though that may be. They blow past deadlines and they don't hire enough staff and their servers have problems and they periodically try nerfing the clear speed meta only to give up in the face of community outrage. I've never know them to just lie for the sake of it - so when they say it will be free, I believe them. As for Tencent... I've worked for a company partially acquired by Tencent. They're really not interested in micromanaging; they just want to sit around doing nothing in particular and hoover up all of the money. Path of Exile 2, like the original, will be a shop with a game attached. A so-called 'box price' only serves to reduce the number of people installing your shop / game onto their PC and potentially getting hooked. They've no reason to feel strongly in favour of having one. " People will call anything "tactical", "meaningful" or "methodical" as long as you move and attack slow. As long as "fast" is possible, it's automatically "stupid", even though no one is forcing you. In D2, players were teleporting all over the place, but people seem to erase that from their memory. Even though I'm a D2 veteran and it's one of my favorite games ever, I don't have an overly romantic memory of it and I consider PoE1 a better game. |

" If GGG left PoE 1 alone, other than adding new leagues, I'd be fine with playing it. I'd prefer more often than twice a year updates. If they don't put any PoE 2 gameplay into PoE 1, I'll be happy. If they do try to turn PoE 1 into 2, to drive players toward 2.0, then I'll find something else to play.
