The biggest red flag for Path of Exile 2

you know instead of being a keyboard warrior you could ignore what you dont like instead of attacking every point you dont like. it might save you some sanity. you are the reason i pretty much stopped coming here.

I'm genuinely sorry if that's true. I'm not trying to drive anyone away. But I think it's pretty unfair for you to act like I'm the one who has been unreasonable here when the common thread running through all of the posts coming from your side seems to be that Jonathan Rogers should lose his f'ing job because you guys aren't personally enjoying the game at the moment.

I spent over a decade of my career designing & developing games so I have a bit of a soft spot for the reality of the situation. I know what it's like to just be a dude trying to do a job in an industry with little job security and less work-life balance, so watching you guys absolutely crucify this dude and repeatedly mock his "vision" and outright call for him to be fired from his job just because you're not happy with how many divine orbs you've picked up recently I don't know maybe it touched a nerve.

And what they personally enjoy baffles me and many others I'm sure.

I don't get the mindset, are there certain people just wanting to make 6 characters pretty quickly and then be peeved that they're struggling for the right mechanics/skills, hope it all gears easier with lucky loot/crafting to correct it and then additionally be frustrated with overplaying the campaign because they're making different characters?

Seems like the heavy complaints are from those who lack any form of commitment and I know I'd be frustrated too going through campaign many multiple times if I was after an easy bit of fun, if I want easy fun I just boot up an online competitive game I'm used too and after a few games I'm done.

I honestly don't know what an easy bit of fun is, what's really lacking in PoE2 that makes a group of people spam "vision" like if they've just been scammed their full day wage? This is only a 30-40 dollar game :/

I've changed my Monk in End Game to Bow+Spear and I've been loving it for a few days and its cool Dex users have a shield imo, I think the mixing is wonderful if you spend a fair bit of time theory crafting.

I think the issue is none there is testing endgame. Maybe one person. And they need an army of play testers for the variance that is possible in the endgame. Assumedly we are the army of play testers...

yep, thats the point of a beta/early access. we are the testers, we are giving feedback. they are listening, they have just put out a bunch of patches based on feedback and its improved the game.

its a discussion forum were here to discuss and put forward our views. i agree with kerchunk i dont think pandering devs work. thats what brought us d3 and d4, devs who have no vision for an arpg just endlessly reacting to a player base they dont understand telling them that everything theyre doing is wrong, but completely unable to fix it because they have no personal experience with which to evaluate the feedback. poe1 was made by devs with a vision who listened to the player base and sometimes agreed and changed things, sometimes didnt.

theyre still doing that with poe2. theyre listening and theyre making changes when we put forward an argument that sells them on what we are saying. when they dont agree with what we are saying they stick to their guns. thats exactly how i want devs to be.

i think what people get wrong is they presume the way the game plays is exactly how the devs want it to be and then personally attack the devs because they dont like it.

most of the time the devs are not happy with the current state of the game either. its a work in progress. ziz told them a ton of stuff that ppl didnt like, they agreed with a bunch of it and rolled out changes right away.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Correcting a bit the Op thread about the so called 35K (blatant wrong stat by the way)

I will copy past a bit what i wrote somewhere else because it seems relevant here:

It is pretty reasonable stats (only steam, not counting GGG launcher and consoles) and pretty sure GGG knew the numbers will bounce down a bit faster than 0.1 (exceptional stats and retention for a game of this type - Top 50 steam all conccurent players active all time - again excluded GGG launcher and console)

Let's speak when they will release 1.0 or even Druid + blight.

Moreover let's have a look in a game that is exceptional right?
El famoso Last epoch, it has very positive recent review (79%) and we all know based on the vocal minority + streamer echo chamber than POE2 bad and LE exceptional.

Let's have a look in the stats shall we?

Aha from 150K (Last cycle) to 57K after only 10 days....

Oh well then my cognitive angry karen bias is not connecting the dot here....

Let's have a look in the worst game ever created POE2 with a catastophic 0.2 launch.
250K launch release and let's check 10 days after 170K.
(By the way today POE2 is higher in player count than LE....)
Oh but that's strange, the game has a better retention (on active conccurent players on STEAM ONLY) than our exceptional Last Epoch...

Mmm no comprendo mi amor.

If we follow OP narrative, it means Last epoch, a game that is universally loved and cherished (Streamer echo chamber + positive review..) with a worst retention rate than POE2 should quit or completely change the "shower with loot - 0 challenge until very late game" path or maybe than POE2 is not that disliked as the toxic vocal minority is claiming.

Little edit: POE2 is 17th ranking all time peak (remaining TOP 50 all time peak for 0.2 with barely new content) better than Helldivers 2 or Space marine 2 for example.
Again that's excluding console and GGG launcher.

Criticizing a guy like Jonhatan is extremely illustrative of the toxic world we are in and that we allow, tolerate. The toxic vocal minority(Fortunately) will never ever accomplish 0,1% of what Jonhatan did in his life.
The issue with the criticism, for me, comes when people who truly have no scope of game development start calling for the heads of the developers. Can you imagine this in any other world?

A band comes out with a new single and sets it on Spotify and the fanbase revolts and tells the band to fire the lead singer because they didnt hear what they wanted.

A restaurant debuts a new dish and someone doesn't like their take on Spaghetti Carbonara because it isnt how their mom made it and screams that the chef should be fired.

George RR Martin should probably stop writing the GoT books and hand them off to someone else because it's taking too long right? Or maybe we blame him for the end of the show?

This isn't just business, this is also art, a creative process. The developers are making a game THEY love and trust me you want that. You want nuance, artistic choice, someone who will stand up and say "NO, WE ARE MAKING THIS, NOT YOU" or you get stuck with every generic studio on the market.

You're welcome to spend the time learning to develop a game, and spend the vast resources to make said game, and deal with the stress of running an entire company while people who have no concept of what it takes to develop said game call for your job over not getting their shinies fast enough.

Look we're all frustrated by parts of the game, right? I've had a lot of personal issues with the random crashes and the one shot mechanics coming from off screen. I don't think the trading mechanism is even remotely good enough right now. Itemization and materials can be a REAL chore. But if you look past the flaws and offer thoughtful insight and enough people do, those flaws can change.

Constructive criticism is imperative to success. Screaming and stomping your feet is not the way.

When all is one and one all, to be a rock and not to roll

You can only make a game for yourself if it's your game, regardless of its success or failure. Otherwise you'll be allowed or tolerated up to a certain point.
35% on steam says more than a bunch of angry sentimental people defending their favorite dev from the 'spoiled kidz'.

"Imagine this in any other world?"
-You mean the head of a company doing a bad job and being held accountable?

I think you have a point sadly, that would be bizarre in today's world. people like you make sure of that.
