Why POE1 is still the best ARPG, Better than LE, POE2, and Diablo 4

At this point Id like them to just start an sequel and rename this project.
I prefer poe 2. I can't play any of the other arpgs after playing poe2. Poe1, le and d4 feel way too easy after playing poe 2. Also, the combat and boss fights just clear every other arpg in terms of design. To each their own though. Hopefully, GGG sticks to their vision for poe 2 and also starts releasing leagues for poe 1 regularly to appease that audience.

Been playing some last epoch today and I didn't get the same feel that I did in POE1 and I have been trying to figure out why.

..its because you understand POE1 more than the other two.

I personally find POE1 to be the easiest (before late endgame) and most braindead and least engaging of them. Every POE1 build is teleport + one AOE dmg skill, and you can run the entire campaign and most of endgame like that.

POE2 is clearly the hardest, but I wouldn't say it's hard. Once I knew the mob patterns and build system, campaign zones are mindless faceroll.. I play SSF, and I've started to do act 1 in only blues to make it more intersting. Though at least the bosses are a bit more challenging.

LE has a very different progression curve, because you can get into endgame monolith in 2.5 hours, which is barely longer than it takes to finish POE2 Act 1. So if you judge the difficulty after 4hrs of playtime once you know how to play, I think LE lets you reach significantly more challenge in 4 hrs, becuase i can be in endgame pushing content as hard as I want.. whereas 4hrs in POE1/2 doesn't get me out of the snoozefest campaign. If you want harder than that, equip the Cursed Veterans Boots at the start.

No offense, But poe2 started off alot better than it became with this season....Some changes were good, but the Build DIversity, forced directional control in form of hard nerfs to everything to include endgame rare drop loot.....is just very D4 in feel.

At least last season ppl were smashing on everything from BLOOD MAGE, RANGER, SORC, MONK, MERC, MINION BUILDS, etc.

Now it's just "100 ways to play the new class, 2 ways to lich, and a couple warriors"

and whats the point endgame when most all the pinnacle boss loot was also nerfed to kingdom come?? So you build an amazing character to clear content where the rewards aren't worth 30% of what they were......cmon.

So you are in the 1% that liked ruthless. *shrug* I played it but then Ruthless didnt have a 50 hour campaign.
Should take PoE2 out of the title. No point comparing an early access project to "finished" products.
A lot of reasons why you dont like the game, some i agree with and some i dont. Just one thing though... Who the f... cares about gender locked chars ???? It doesnt matter, what matters is what they can do with their ascendancy.
All the noobs regurgitating streamers bullshit.

It's not a SLOG it's called a GRIND.

brother, I too could make a thread about why Diablo II is still the GOAT and has more replay-ability to this day than any other ARPG since its release. it's called nostalgia and not a fruitful thing to hold on to sadly.

you make this post today, but I'm certain, the fact that you've been experimenting with other titles means you are looking for the next hook and it ain't PoE1 anymore...

PoE2 has a lot of potential and even in its current state is a damn good game at least on HC SSF, maybe even SC SSF I dare say.

No. POE1 hasnt had a new league in nearly a year. That is the reason I am looking at other titles. I wanted POE2 to be a sequel. It isnt. Its a completely different game with only superficial relationship to its predecessor.

Looks like someone should have listened to GGG before EA started when they said this game will NOT be a sequel to POE 1...
I like POE 1 for what it is and I don't mind that POE 2 is different but they need to make it more rewarding to play - at least in the early game. They nerfed all the chase items as well so what is there to look forward to at this point? I dunno, they have a lot of work to do.

If you played Ruthless the you must know thant PoE 2 is nothing like that. For example in ruthless you have no quest rewards. Everything including skill gems was drop only. You had no uncut gems - what skill you dropped that skill you had. You chose build based on what you dropped not on what you want to play. That is Ruthless.

It's like comparing exp loss to hardcore lol.
