Over 60% of players are playing "Lightning Spear". Where is the build diversity?

there is no build diversity anymore everything has been nerfed to the ground. no point in playing anything else.....theres no end game either anymore they nerfed that to the point theres no reason to do ubers...all the drops are auto vendor
Mash the clean
Glad you're enjoying it, guess we're just built different. It's a feedback page and it's something I believe the devs should pay attention to. Either ways, hope they do see it and atleast keep it in mind for 0.3, if they don't want to make changes now.

it doesn't really matter what portion of playerbase is at LS right now, drastically overpowered stuff shouldn't exist, as well as drastically underpowered.

I am curious to know what source/criteria you guys are using to come to so many definitive conclusions about balance across so many classes and skills this early.

I saw a lot of similar claims and lists of "the only viable endgame builds" in 0.1 and then I played a build that was nowhere to be found on any of them and did just fine through t4 (and feel like I enjoyed cheaper gear and gems for the lack of competition).

If you see a simple and "definitive conclusion" sentence, it doesn't mean lack of thought or intended lie behind it. This is game forum, not science journal. I also play non-meta char right now and doing fine so far at lvl 76, but poe2 pinnacle content is all about clearspeed on timer, not just clear eventually. Pretty sure I will hit a wall on reaching it.

If your build can/could faceroll simulacrums at the same pace as old spark, your build also fits criteria of "drastically overpowered" (points to you for discovering something no one else knew about). If not, still no one calls your build non-viable. It doesn't change the fact that most rewarding content in the game should have most hardened balance approach, not vice-versa like now.

GGG should make pinnacle content passable by different kinds of builds, as long as those builds got through the atlas, which proves their general viability. So far only type of content GGG did was "dump insane amount of mobs in tiny space", so merely "viable" is not cutting it there.
I like ice lance.

Ice lance is better than lightning spear.

I don't care what YouTube tells me to do.

If you play a YouTube build, prepare yourself for nerfs.

Have fun out there and keep your stick on the ice - we are all in this together.
Stupid people never lose an argument.
Bleed Rake/Spearfield here. I avoided the obvious LS builds because they obviously get nerfed and it's too vanilla for my taste. Switched a buckler for a tower shield and welcomed the fast mobs since they run into the spears anyway and into the shield at last. Having a good tanky tamed beast helps a lot too. Probably won't ever be the meta since it's not a super fast build, but I prefer the comfort it gives over gotta go fast.

That sounds fun. However, I dont think it's getting nerfed since over half the players are playing it, and GGG themselves said so in the Q/A.
You're worried about 60% of the playerbase playing the newest class with the only skill thats decent when over 60% of the playerbase left cause the games bad....?
Wow, imagine worrying because a bunch of people are generating internet pixels during an early access game faster than you.

But yes, the balance is awful
where did you get this number from?
