You only need an Offering which you can get from other sources such as trade, Delve, Ritual, etc.

Yeah I'm not sure. It's explained on the wiki, but I think you might have a good point that it is not clearly indicated in the game. Maybe it is somewhere, might be on the quest log or NPC dialogue. To you point though, it is not only new players it may confuse. Player who have used the old mechanic expect it to work how it use to work, because it uses the same UI as it use to.

The first time you complete an ascension trial in maps, you get a quest update that says to go to the aspirint's plaza and complete the eternal labyrinth.

It's literally right on your screen at all times and doesn't go away until you do it.

I really don't know how ggg can make things more clear then that? Like at some point, it has to be the responsibility of the player to observe and absorb the information literally written on their screen.

This...and there are so many things that are explained on gems, on gear, in the help menu, in the character menu, by npcs, etc. that people complain about "not knowing" and how unclear or confusing the game is.

If you are new, you should be reading every goddamn thing the game gives you. Admittedly, there are many shortcomings. But there is also a TON of information provided that regularly comes up on these forums.

Back in the day, I as a new player would read all npc dialogue, complete every quest, read every help menu, take things slow. Is this just not a thing anymore? Do people jump face-first into games assuming they know everything, and just ignore all the helpful information provided?
Starting anew....with PoE 2

Ok thanks. That is good if they have it. I have never looked myself as I was reading patch notes around the time of those changes and was aware it had changed. I still think it doesn't make sense to have UI ticking off 6 check marks when there is no longer any reason to do it.

In terms of the quest log, I think it needs a lot of improvement. I believe it makes sense for people who play the game regularly and don't need it, but not so much for people encountering it either as a beginner, or someone returning to the the game. The side quests, in particular the one for expedition are confusing and people can get stuck following them when they are not logical to be completing during the campaign.

You are right that what ever information they put in the game, some people will still miss it. People still go into the wrong leagues even with all the warning text at character selection. It can still be improved a lot though. There is a range of information that is not in the game at all, or more confusing than it needs to be. Ticking off the lab trials for the fourth lab, when it is not necessary, after it being necessary to do on the first 3 labs and in past patches, is one of these things.

THIS. We were taught that we had to complete all trials to unlock the Normal, Cruel, and Merciless Labs. That's how it worked, and how we learned to play.
The Monument for Uber trials is just meaningless UI at this point.

A Misunderstanding only results in a one-time loss, so it's understandable that fixing it would be the lowest priority. But even so it's something shouldn't exist.

Yeah, I think by adding a reward for this they would not even have to change it. Perhaps it would still be unnecessarily confusing and they should just get rid of the ticking off all together, but I think there is room to give it some purpose.
