Make a reward for completing all 6 lab trials in maps.
I think i've been involved in a thread about this before. I searched and found some threads about this in the past year, but they were archived, so creating a new one.
There should be some sort of reward for getting all 6. Certainly it is much better since gating the entry behind having all 6 has been removed. It leaves a system there with no reason for having it though. Doesn't really matter what the reward is. Someone I read suggested the offering you drop on the 6th one be an improved offering, which sounds like a pretty good idea to me. Pleanty of other things it could be though. Anything to give it a reason for being in the game and not the remnant of a system that is not longer used. Seems like it would be pretty easy to do, with no downside. They have a mechanic in the game that has been gutted and has no purpose. Why would they leave it in the game with no purpose? That is the question why.
All they need to do is give it a reward and it has a purpose again. Probably one line of code. They could remove it completely, but it would be more work and less benefit. Having a thing in the game that tracks your completion of the 6 trials for no reason is useless and potentially confusing. There's enough of that in the game already. Like side content quests in the campaign that can not be completed. The earlier labs have a reason for tracking it, because it rewards entry. The final lab trials in maps no longer have a purpose or make sense. Giving it a reward would be a very simple solution to giving it purpose. No downside. Just nuke the Lab cluster on the atlas passive tree and allow Improved Offerings of the Goddess to have a chance to drop by default.
Never forget the Alt Qual Gem deletion, the Ex > Div swap and loss of various crafting methods.
Revive Metamorph/Crucible. Refine Sentinel/Kalandra content. Bring back legacy modifiers/values. If you're someone who blindly hates on Standard and its players, you are part of the problem. |

" That would kinda kill their value I think. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. |

Have you played Bastion? In that game you could put several Idols to an altar to customize you gameplay rewards and challenges. They were something like "Gain increased experience, but enemies drops a bomb on death" and etc.
There are 6 statues in Aspirant's Plaza, each of which could be a toggleable Labyrinth challenge and reward adjuster. At first they are all disabled, but are enabled one by one for the account by completing the Trials in maps. Now we could adjust the challenges and rewards better for the end game, without necessarily needing the improved offerings. Combining these with the improved offerings we could be getting to some really ridiculous challenges. Variety is the spice of life. GGG could rotate the statue mods for each league. It would be making the end game Labyrinth a little bit different each league, which is the biggest pro for me. I would like to see the Labyrinth build meta shaken every once in a while. I'm sure GGG had some Sanctum mods and other monster ideas they have not yet put into use. Edit: If I could have a say, I would have 20 challenge mods in rotation, and only 6-8 reward mods in rotation. Kinda feel like people would be playing for the rewards, and that requires a bit of predictability to get excited for. Edit 2: The mods would not need to be all about rewards and damage numbers. Besides extra use of Font or monster difficulty it could be: Keys (all) are dropped from monsters instead, more chests, 1 random room less/more, or Izaro always has all the things in his final fight. Haven't played it.
Might be some ideas there though. I don't mind what you are throwing out there. What ever it is, I don't want the rewards to be anything much more than what they are, I just think it should have some purpose. What you are talking about sounds pretty interesting to me. Like the trial allow you do some customization to rewards output or the properties of the lab spawn. I think it only need to be something very simple, but if they went all they way on developing something like you are talking about that would be great too. |

" Well they already did that....the purpose has been changed to get upgraded offerings. The reason for having 6 trials has shifted: before it was passing them all. Now, its just "do the trial that is the most comfortable for your build" if you want upgraded offerings. And then with the lab rewards being revamped, getting those upgraded offerings is actually a decently valuable way to make money if you are a speed runner. " Yep. I don't think they are different enough currently for it to have a plaque showing up, ticking them off though. I could not tell you which was which going just off the names. For me they all seem fairly similar difficulty wise. If people are using it for that purpose, fair enough. I think you can see the names without ticking them off as you go in anyway. If players are getting them ticked off, may as well give them some benefit from doing it. Would be a very small reward that I am suggesting. Nothing gate keeping power. I'm sure a lot of people remember what it was like being blocked from lab trying to RNG spawn the 6th one. I think it would be interesting though, you notice you have done 4 or 5, and you keep any eye out for the last one while mapping because there is some benefit for finding it. |

" The original downside was having to find all trials before even being able to attempt the final lab. Which was probably still a thing when I was normally active in league, because it was very nice to be able to get it over with with the very first offering I found after completing the first trial i saw. but to put it in perspective, now that I'm mostly std now, I basically ignore trial stuff. I used to do them religiously in league but a lot more ended up getting sent to std than sold so yeah. Yep, totally over league play.
